3 Button Blue Key Repair

Has anyone tried to open their GT or QP key to replace worn buttons or a part of the shell? I know that they don't age too well and my 2 have certainly seen better days.
I have a genuine brand new key that came from a written off car so it has a cut blade in place and of course the transponder chip for the immobiliser will be glued into the shell and no use for me but I don't seem to be having any luck in opening it & don't want to break it.

Any clues would be much appreciated, cheers

You can get the transponder accepted by your car. Just needs an SD3
