My GT had one already but I'm going to keep the one i have in my M3. I'm hoping for it working straight off the bat when I collect her on Saturday

This just arrived. £9.95 off eBay. Looks very similar to the one I already have but no idea if the innards are the same. On a Ghibli it allows the iPod to be controlled using the car audio controls. On a GTS, who knows. Will try it soon and update.

Didn't work. Well, it did but only insofar as it provided a way of charging the iPod and allowing it to squirt music to the car, no controls available from car audio controls other than volume.

I now have a spare cable which I'm happy to sell to anyone who wants it for what I paid - £9.95, including P&P.

Thought that was all the control you got with the oem plug too.

Both mine have Maserati stickers on. I'm wondering if there was a high-price optional extra on these which allowed full integration between car and iPod?

if you already have one of the iPod cables I use a bluetooth adapter to stream music from my iPhone without the need for it to be connected and stuck in the glovebox. It works perfectly and automatically connects when you get in the car. I have all my music as Spotify playlists and it also works with the tomtom/ google maps on the iPhone which unlike the satnav actually accepts postcodes!

Looking at this on Amazon, gets lots of great reviews, worth a punt ???

Help pls. Im connecting an iPoD to my 2008 GT, it has the optional factory cable and the USB/Earphone things. I play it but no sound. BigBob pointed me in the direction of the Activate/Deactivate AUX on the Sound menu - this is set correctly. Any ideas pls? BTW - to check it wasn't an Apple thing, I connected my HTC phone to the earphone connector and still no sound. Cheers.

To clarify, you have an aux cable plugged into the headphone / aux hole of your iPod and into the same sized aux hole in your glovebox, correct? And no music. Presumably your car plays from other sources quite happily? If so I'd suggest it's an issue with the car. If you want to try an alternative method I'm happy to send you one of my cables (see photo above) and if it works you can keep it for what I paid for it.

As there seems to be no truly integrated iPod / car option on our cars (unlike the new Ghibli which works just fine with an identical cable) I'm wondering how the h3ll I convert an abundance of iTunes files into a different format and get them and all the associated metadata onto a USB stick.

Hi Adam, you are correct that is exactly what I have done - so it must be the car. I guess a good car hifi place is the best place - the PO had an Alpine DVD mounted in the car by Maranello I am wondering if there is something I should ask him. Anyway, here's a picture of the other cable/s I think fitted by Maranello when new - IMG_0019.JPG
