Very nice! Great pics, but I don't think they do the colour justice. She looked stunning at the last Ace meet.

Thanks everyone. She is a really stunning car. If it wasn't for the fact that I'd like to go back to a 42, or even buy a 964.............................

@ Ewan - She does look rather nice, doesn't she? It is not a fire sale. I'd be content to keep her, if I don't get a decent offer.

@ Parisien - Yes, I believe it to be the best colour. It really pops in the sunshine. Although I loved my black 4200, for some reason, I don't like QPs in black. That's one of the reasons I plumped for this car.

@ Outrun - I'm sure we could do a deal which would suit your timing. :)

@ MAF260 - I agree that you don't quite get the effect of the colour in indoor shots. Nareman used to have the cars photo'd on the roof of his place. I think that would have been slightly better for my car.

Well, we have a deposit in hand and so the car is, to all intents and purposes sold. This looks like the end of my Maserati ownership for the foreseeqble future. I don't think I could go back to a 42 or GS & a GTS, like the QP,is just too big for London daily driving.

So, it's over to the Dark Side for me & a 964. Preferably a targa. I have a thing about their rear windscreens. :)

Lovely car, sad to see it go - was so tempted but Mrs Z would have had me jewels if I bought another.

I too also like taigas but not sure I would do German again

Elliot, don't buy a targa mate. The loss of rigidity is not worth the fresh air when the coupe has a large sunroof. I've owned both.

993 targa is a different story.

Just so cramped in comparison though. My mate has a 993 targa and at 6ft 4 I really do struggle to get in it and drive it comfortably....

Thanks for that, outrun. I did think about a 993 targa. But, since when has a head ruled a heart when it comes to cars? I NEED a 964 targa rear screen in my life. :)

Actually, I could save some money and just buy the screen!

Go for it, scratch that itch.

White looks nice. Very pure. Check where the rear quarter meet the plastic bumper for rust. Although these are galvanised, the two materials rub and good repair is expensive.

Apart from that, the c2 is more fun to drive and costs less to maintain than the 4.

Thanks for that. Yes, I've found a black/black C2 for sale on a Porsche forum but not on PH. Im speaking to the owner tomorrow. I far prefer a C2.

This car is now sold.

The new owner has just this moment picked the car up. For me, that marks the end of four years of Maserati ownership. It's been a great experience. Two very, very different cars. Given a choice, I'd go with the 4200CC over the QP V just because it's far more of a driver's car. Though, I won't forget cruising down to Le Mans in the QP last year. Refinement coupled with eager power delivery. It really is a wonderful Grand Tourer.

I've enjoyed getting to know some of you over that time. Sports Maserati is a splendid forum. I will pop over to the Maserati area on the Friday of the Silverstone Classic and will still keep an eye on the forum. I'll never get bored of telling prospective CC owners to, "check the clutch wear".

But, for now, I'm headed over to the 'Dark Side'. There's a Porsche 964 targa with my name on it out there somewhere. Indeed, I'm popping down to Southampton to view one tomorrow.

Arrivederci !!!!

:)

They certainly have.

I've still got a couple of things to sell that may be of interest. I'll be posting the details up in the next couple of days in the "for sale" section. There's a Mitsubishi 3000GT spare wheel that fits the QP V, both front and back. I also have a 'dog proof' hand made rear seat cover for the QP V. I don't think that I used it more than once.

For any QP V owners 'wondering' about whether the Mitsubishi wheel fits, let me also assure you - it's an alloy wheel, has exactly the right PCD and centre bore, and fits perfectly. I've got the same for mine - it's a very cost effective way to get yourself a space-saver spare wheel.

And as a triple assurance. Once I got the wheel, I took it and the car up to Bill McGraths where Paul fitted the wheel, front and back and he was satisfied that it was totally safe. Though, you must use the proper bolts. The car's bolts won't do. My wheel will come with the proper chamfered bolts.
