Hi, we've just consigned this lovely Spyder to our auctions. I'm trying to get info on the clutch age/wear level.

Please be aware: "The Maserati Spyder is registered as a CAT D after an unfortunate incident with a kerb. Chris took the car out and spun it. It hit a kerb on the driver’s side front wheel, which damaged the suspension. Doing so also set off the airbag. This is where the insurers decided to write off the car because the parts were taking so long to get from Maserati. Chris bought the car back and had it repaired."

Nice looking car (and one that I have always been interested in) but Cat D and lack of service history would put me off .... and that's before I started reading about all of the other minor niggles that haven't been sorted.

That said, it isn't far to go to have a look and it could make a nice winter project

As always it is worth what someone is willing to pay. Buy cheap sell cheap no issue. I've had a few Cat cars with no issues. It is usually the repaired ones you don't know about that can bite.

Chris sounds very American history X to me. Obviously the beige trim wasn't white enough for his liking. I hope he chooses the Avorio next time.

Bear in mind we aim to afford buyers the confidence to buy sight unseen (and 80% of our buyers do!), so we often list many issues that others would hide until you arrived to see the car in person! That might make it seem less cared for than some others, but most of them will have just as many niggles, but hidden!

To think, ten years ago I struggled to get £12k for a 2002 Spyder with low mileage and perfect history/provenance. How times change.

And I really appreciate the honesty of the advert (albeit that I guess you have to be 100% transparent to mitigate the risk of the bidder seeking to avoid payment on the basis of misrepresentation).

For me it's not the niggles (which as you say are often present), it is the lack of service history and my old fashioned view that this points to an owner who doesn't care (enough) about his car.

Still tempted to put in a bid though :)

Is this a trident pretending to be a Ferrari shield?

looks properly tacky to me, on an otherwise classy looking car.

Reminds me of these things...

I like these newer websites that are going the extra mile to properly describe a car though (assuming they actually are!). Every car has it's issues, it's nice to know what they as you head in. I appreciate that some on here would expect most things to be resolved prior to a car being put up for sale, but providing it's reflected in the price, I see no issues.

Seen worse, seen better. The black and tan works quite nicely but lots of wear on the internal plastic trims, seats need a good feed.

As always depends on price somebody will pay
