Car revs itself a bit at idle... Sometimes

Anyone know what this is? At moment it's only occasionally but it revs itself a bit when it's meant to idle. Only a bit mind, maybe 1000 rpm up and down at the most, from normal
idle speed. And annoyingly, not all the time...

It's hunting. Probably an air leak somewhere or the MAF. Get the codes read and it will point you in the right direction.

As Sparts has said probably an air leak there is a metal tube across the front of the engine bay that corrodes and get small holes in it. Worth checking that first to see if their are any rusted areas on the underside and check the hoses round the MAF.

Is this a 3200 or a 4200? I've just solved the intermittent but sometimes extreme over idling on my 3200 with a contactless throttle pot.
