I’ve joined the growing band on here who have purchased a Ciga Z Series titanium watch as a cheap everyday automatic for c £250. eBay sends suggestions to look at other similar listings and I got the attached! I suppose it is similar but not the price. Wow!

Seriously? You’ve got some nice watches but I don’t think this will be out of place.

It’s a very very good watch for the cash.image.jpg

Keeps excellent time…just don’t swim in it!

Thanks for the tip on water resistance Wattie. It is due to come tomorrow and plan to wear it a fair bit along with my Seamaster and Chopard MM, as things like the Daytona, Patek and the Breitling Tourbillon are getting too valuable to risk damage or theft when out. A shame, but that’s just reality these days. Daytona and Sub prices have gone mad!

It’s shower safe but no further. I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised when u get it.

Yup, lucky you, those others are in a different league so enjoy this one and put the others in the safe- where they belong!

Thoughts please when u get it.

I have a Milgauss GV as my daily. It’s doubled in value since I bought it, which is a bonus!
Dunno if this has been discussed here but these guys do some great rubber straps for an alternative sporty look.

I can picture that looking good on a Milgauss.

It arrived today and looks the part for a cheap automatic. Chinese Seagull movement like my Maserati watch. Very light like my Chopard MM as both have a Titanium case.

I like the curved convex glass and slots either side of the face. The rubber orange strap was a bit in-your-face for me so I fitted the optional leather strap that was very easy to swap with the quick release pins. Leather quality is pretty poor but what can you expect for the price?

Can wear this as a daily without worry about damage or theft so a good buy 95931

Agree on the straps, I changed for an after market rubber clasp job and much prefer.
Enjoy.

As mentioned on here the prices of Rolex (probably other marques) have gone ballistic in recent months....Rolex agents have no stock (display models only) adding to huge grey market price increases.
Waiting lists for just about every model now are years long. Some agents have stopped taking names for such.

If you haven’t got a Daytona in your collection now, it’s very unlikely you ever will- at MRP.
I don’t and actually turned one down many years ago in favour of my two tone GMT II. Dual time and a date suited my needs more at the time - as they still do today.

I do however really like the new ceramic Daytona’s and think i’ve come up with a pretty good, inexpensive alternative for a very similar sport chrono “Daytona” look.

It’s got a 2 year international warranty; swimmable to 10ATM or 100m depth so that will satisfy most,; it’s reliable according to reviews ;has a date (which I view as important) and imo looks very very similar.

This is the look I’m trying to replicate......currently Aud $50,000 and beyond , grey market- for a steel watch!!

Mental.

I’ll post when my selected alternative arrives......if it’s as good as I’m anticipating.

I’m lucky to have bought a Daytona when prices were about 1/3 of current, but as per my Ciga response above, it’s now joined the part of the collection that’s got too valuable to wear as a daily.

The much cheaper alternative is the Zenith El Primero that uses the same mechanism, looks similar and is a bargain by comparison. It even has a date window which is one of the downsides of the Daytona which does not. Get one before the rest of the world gets the same idea and prices shoot up .

Yup that’s a good shout.
Tudor do a decent alternative too…..both of these, I suspect , have the same availability problems as the Daytona…

Personally, I’m past my “exie” watch buying days so cheap and cheerful will do just fine from now on.

Personally I hate rubber straps (I think they are ugly and make my wrist sweaty / uncomfortable) and so swap them out as soon as I can ... usually for leather.

As for not wearing watches due to value, I think this is madness (unless you are going camping / somewhere truly unsafe) and I take the same approach to watches as I do to cars .... use them for what they are designed for.

OK, none of my watches are bonkers money (Chopard MM, Tag Monaco and Franck Muller all coming in at circa £5k I'd guess?) and my decision not to wear usually based on whether it fill fit under my shirt cuff or if it matches my outfit :) I also rotate with a number of much (much) cheaper watches.

It is my 50th later this year and a watch is on the list of wants (although I may lump in and 'waste' it on a car instead) and I will wear (or drive) whatever I buy.

Completely my view with a ball park similar price range. No space for 'watchbox queens' in my wardrobe ;)
