Thanks Phil,
I spoke to Oliver on the phone who said it had been sorted and the brackets on the recent MOT advisory has been too. There will be a new MOT on the car before Thursday, so it shouldn't come up then, but I've asked the question just now once more.
I'll update with the reply.
Sounds like you've fallen on your feet and are dealing with the better end of the motor trade. That was lucky.
I can't recall the mileage and service intervals. I service mine annually anyway. If a big service is due, you might
ask whether this was done, or is due. I'm not asking, however if you paid the asking price which in this case, as I said seems reasonable, there must be margin enough for the guys to service it, if its about due.
A 'mini' service is oil, NGK plugs and filter, so far as my booze addled brain can recall. Costs me a few hundred including labour.
Just had a look at my own pack and all it states are the items to be checked each year. One year being the 'mini' service and every other year, the 'major' service. If I'm wrong guys. Please correct me.
Same as mine, your franchise and indy services may not be written into your service record.
The franchise dealer where the car was serviced ought to have retained these records on their IT system.
You can request a hard copy, which is something I keep meaning to do, as you can't depend on them keeping
records for ever.
Hopefully I'm not tempting fate, when I say that despite you completely ignoring the buying advice that we trot out here regularly, you've struck lucky and landed on your feet. You ought to have a huge amount of fun with the car.
I'll spare you the details. However despite reading all the advice here, I did exactly the same as you. Except, I went one better and bought private. It was an impulse, but as I know three of the four previous owners and they all have deep pockets, the odds were that the car was very well looked after. Apart from the 'Blackpool' scare initially, I've loved being the custodian of this fabulous machine and have spared no expense. When it comes time to sell. Possibly soon. I'll be counting the days, a few years away, until I buy another.
