@zagatoes30 you not had a look under your tractor mower and seen the belts and where they go
'One peculiarity of the R16, and later Renault 5, design is that the two back wheel axle shafts are not in-line. The left wheelbase is 70 mm (2.76 in) longer than the right wheelbase'

Awhile ago, I took my GTA to a busy little local garage for a spruce up and MOT.
“It’ll be ready by Christmas” became a running joke for fifteen years. Sadly, it never was, as the owner of the garage passed away recently and took all his knowledge and enthusiasm with him.
No-one knew what jobs he’d done over the years and his family need the garage space, so I’ve brought it home today. My dad is 80 on Monday and he’s keen on getting back together in time for Christmas, so we’ve decided to have a crack at it together. Gulp.

nice plate, you could of waited until the bloke had finished taking a leak before taking the photoAwhile ago, I took my GTA to a busy little local garage for a spruce up and MOT.

That’s my dad - must be his advanced years. At least he was behind the carnice plate, you could of waited until the bloke had finished taking a leak before taking the photo
I love the colour too, but my Dad thinks it’s not exciting enough. It was a badge delete Turbo from new. I had it about three years old I think. There was a chap called Alan Matthews in Lulworth Cove who used to service it for me. Think he had a Lemans. He definitely had a special A110 and a R5T2. Also had the first UK Venturi 400GT in once when I was there. That was a beast.Would love a Le Mans but missed that boat. Great colour. They had a white one in the window of the Renault dealers in Digbeth when they were new, great looking cars.
odd that, think it is some of that generation, my dad and farther in law are the same, if outside in the garden they sometimes go round back of garage for a leakThat’s my dad - must be his advanced years. At least he was behind the car
Who is your closer in-law?odd that, think it is some of that generation, my dad and farther in law are the same, if outside in the garden they sometimes go round back of garage for a leak
Whilst generally I like convertible versions, in this case I think I like the coupe more, maybe because the rear has such an iconic shape. It loses a bit of its identity - that aggressive squat look as a convertible. But maybe I should see it in real life before judging - no chance of that unfortunately where I am…I never knew this existed......Very pretty!

And this would be something to look forward to...

The Germans know how to put a car together I must admit my Boxster 987.1 is probably the Best put together car I have ever had.Don't tell Phil but I always liked the GTA, we nearly bought one at an auction a few years ago but the build quality and interior fit was shocking
Agree 100%! I love spyders but generally FHC versions are generally better looking...........Karmann Ghia being a perfect example (IMO)Whilst generally I like convertible versions, in this case I think I like the coupe more, maybe because the rear has such an iconic shape.
