ex father in law had a XM back in Angers, he was the chauffeur for a Minister and when he (the Minister) retired he was given the car. It was lovely to sit in.

Funny thing the French, the family was given a Renault Espace too as a gift for having thier 5th child... part of the drive to re populate the country... they had 9 kids in the end!... but no second espace.

Interesting that Peter as Ms French's mother many years ago was having an affair with a Solicitor and he bought her a 16 TS brand new must be a French thing :)

We had a deputy headmaster with a 16, I think it was a TX, 5 speed manual back in 74/75 he drove it like a lunatic flat out every where. When the teachers were taking the rugby team to away games there were those that begged to go with him and those that refused, the former all became petrolheads - good education in my book

We (my dad) had a 16TX, bronze like colour, a great car at the time. And still with the typically french comfortable “fauteuils“. It replaced an orange 17TS which was vey fast at the time - I remember doing 180km/h in it - no speed cameras then :) although the motorway police were driving Porsche Targa’s to catch speeding cars..

Yeah it's my first one with yellow headlights and that has really made my day even the number plate light works.
Going to get the interior out tomorrow and start attacking the rust.
Powered the XM up and everything bar the rear hatch seems to work.
One of the most luxurious interiors i have seen even has half a tank of fuel.

Always surprised to see how many old cars there are in use in France... far less likely to change with fickle fashion.

Ms French new job, phil s new motors happy days in Ballots. Can you still get panels or or will you fabricate yourself? Mrs 1963 has signed off the purchase of something to tinker about with. I’m fancying an Alfa. I used to have a 156 sportwagon so something like that or a GTV or even a GT. All fairly cheap for what they are.

A big following over here for Classic Renault's like Mini's you can get everything you want.
I recommend that everyone has a project or two if you have the space and we do.
Ms French already planning road trips.

The house is almost finished now. On with some decking at the moment and then a load of fencing and that’s it. Planned a road trip for September all on free cancellation if France is not going to happen. Even if we can get over there we really cba with testing before return etc. So, 3 nights in Troutbeck Cumbria, an overnight in Arrochar, 3 nights in Portree on Isle of Skye and finally 3 nights in Alnmouth Northumberland. Mrs 1963 hasn’t traveled that far north before so along with the Ghibli we’ll see how she performs ;)

We fired up the BBQ and fed and watered the guys which they really appreciated as they had a 5.5 hour drive getting here.

They should give you something to tinker with, I have to wait to the garage is built but that has moved forward a step or two over the last week. In the meantime I have written a list of little jobs on the Fulvia mainly cosmetic but it will involve me pulling bits off cleaning and replacing all a couple of hours at a time and obviously each one will need to be tested with a run once done ;)

Got the 16 running off a separate fuel supply and sweet as not been on the road since 95 and this morning i have driven up and down my driveway.
Clutch and gearbox lovely even the horn works :)

Its French, the horn is built for much use!

I had a Beetle that colour, always faded like that but a quick polish would bring it right back.
