Prior to buying my 2011 GT and reading all the helpful info on this forum this for me was the biggest issue with these cars. I had a PPI done and specifically asked for this to be seriously looksd at. It came back as all good, however as i had not seen it myself it has player on my mind. I had only looked around the sections behind the wheels and they looked fine. Yesterday i managed to get it on a lift and im happy to report its in very good condition with only a couple of small lightly corroded areas. The two cover plates mentioned on the forum were not great but on removal only had light rust, i cleaned them up, treated and repainted the with a coat of waxoyl also. In the future i will have it treated underneath but for now delighted with the condition of the subframe.
I second that unless you want the pain of changing a rusty subframe or even more painful paying someone to do it and change all the front bushes too.Good to hear but now is the time to get it treated and not when you start to see issues beginning - it is the issues that you cannot see that can come back to bit you.
It's a fairly inexpensive preservation job and will benefit the car massively in the long run
Depends where you are and are you using it all year round.Conaero i bought Grants quattroporte gts with the brown interior. I believe you treated it when it was last serviced.
How often would you say the treatment lasts? Will I be ok getting it done every couple of years when it’s serviced in your experience?
Thanks!
Dom
We did. I would say a top up every 3 years of wax might be prudent.Conaero i bought Grants quattroporte gts with the brown interior. I believe you treated it when it was last serviced.
