Hilts, you said “Ponzi Scheme!”
Do you know what you are letting yourself in for?
At last, I am not alone
Perhaps, in the Ferrari points context, 'patsy' may have been more appropriate..?

I think they will could get to those numbers in 3 or 4 yrs time when the spider and electric version come out, but it will never be a volume car or a big profit centre for them from what I have read. They want to sell 70k+ cars a year so the mc20 will be max 5% of output. Seems they are using it as a halo car for branding to help shift the small suv, new GT etc which they will hope to sell in much bigger volumes.Pretty disappointed to read this.
I have been discussing the MC20 production numbers with my friend who is a production buyer at McLaren and he doesn't understand why they would limit production like this
If they are genuinely competing against the F8 Tributo/720S and go racing in GT3 then production targets will likely be up at 3,000 units a year
Nope a “patsy” is an individual who is blamed for a specific occurrence....perhaps unjustifiably.Perhaps, in the Ferrari points context, 'patsy' may have been more appropriate..?
Yep I was disappointed with the sound as well. Mind a McLaren 570S started up and drove off next to me the other day and it did not sound interesting. Ditto a 992 that I saw as well. All petrol cars have been materially quietened down by the fitting of particulate filters.

Fnaar Fnaar. Ooh suits you sir!The rear in particular is my favourite, and I think is always the hardest part to get right, so a big from me.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. An object lesson in upsetting your customers and staff. If they don’t, the residuals will fall through the floor like McLaren’s do. I don’t think they should be following anything McLaren do re models and production numbers.
Maserati MC20: Here's How We'd Spec It
Now you can build your own mid-engined Maserati MC20 sports car using the company’s online configurator.www.motor1.com
Amazing the difference colour makes

Couple of blue stripes front to back on a white one or vice versa would look good. I expect there'll be a Nostalgia pack along at some point, for us old fogeys. I like it, but I'm relieved it's not so achingly perfect that I'd have to consider swapping my Ghibli for one.I guess I was staying you have to spend £50k on options for a Ferrari standard. If you go bespoke you can double that but most don't. With Mas I think the options will be a lot fewer so a good spec car will be close to list

Maserati do so much better with risidual values?
Pot, kettle... Black?
Unless you want only 500 units made total and for it to be a unicorn car... That won't make the manufacturer any turnover
The trouble I think Maserati has, is that it relies on us old sentimentals. It is all true @outrun - they have only been doing this for a few years I hope that the next generation of cars are better built. I am told that they have worked on improving build quality quality since the 12C which lets face it was a disaster that will take time to forget
McLaren business model is much like Ferrari now, they build and sell cars to make money for supporting their race teams... F1, Indycar, GT3 racing isn't cheap
Back to the topic - if Maserati build this car properly then why should they limit production numbers if the demand is there?
They want to sell cars, generate turnover for FCA/PSA, support the local economy in Modena and go racing.
It is not a cheap car so it will be exclusive. Carbon tub exotic with over 600bhp costing over £180k will not bottom out at anything too silly surely
