I used to use the M4 quite a bit and was often astonished that I was in the slow lane doing 90. Guess it will be 45 now. Like everywhere else! GrrrrrrrTotally agree on the constant speed driver's - 45mph whether the limit is 20 or 60!
Mind you, have you been on the M40 lately - normally it's a racetrack - now seems even more of one - last week I had the cruise dialled in to 78 (erm) and Radio 4 selected - might as well been standing still! Plenty of ton up drivers, some in most inappropriate machinery !!
And squeezed in to a non existent gap in a queue of traffic! It was 2018, how time flies... maybe I hit 88MPH
You’ve followed Tilum then? It's when the aforementioned slow driver doing 30 in a 40 brakes for a sweeping bend.
Im slender... I can squeeze into many a tight space. And squeezed in to a non existent gap in a queue of traffic!
Which should be the right way to be fair, if the person behind wants to overtake, let them. I learnt this in Germany; never go in the 'third lane' unless you are doing at least 160kmh, are in a 5 or 7 series BMW, (Mercedes E or S class) and you have to overtake the other traffic.Quite the opposite in France. Whatever speed you are doing and whatever the limit, the car behind will come right up to your rear bumper and sit there a couple of inches off. On the Autoroutes, they do this when you are already driving well over the limit then sit there with their indicator on trying to squeeze between you and the Armco. This is normally in a white low-powered Citroen or Renault with the engine on the rev limiter!
The French are generally a very relaxed bunch in most situations, but this seems to change whenever they get behind the wheel
