They will have saved a fortune by lower claims. £25- may as well fart in my eye. Good publicity for them though.Me too. But as my mileage tracker is currently showing that I've driven 9.4 miles this month, £25 per car doesn't seem like much.
Happy to take it though!
And in other more typical insurers activity I got my renewal notice from Aviva for £937 and helpfully reminding me that I only paid £776 last year, despite having made no claims and changed my daily for something cheaper to insure. Went on their website and got a revised quote on exactly the same basis for £687 which they are happy to honour.
Unfortunately, I can't find anyone else who can match their price so will have to renew with them but it sticks in the throat.
Coronavirus: Insurer to give £25 refunds as cars and vans sit idle
Pressure mounts on other motor insurers to offer refunds as people stay at home during the pandemic.www.bbc.co.uk
.... 'first mover advantage'.
I’m sure you’ll get it, probably being done in batches as opposed to all. Or they spotted you driving to the coast for a non-essential paddleI've not had an email. Only renewed with them this month too. Been with them about 7 years now.
True but when Admiral quoted me £1870 to insure 3 cars vs a previous years premium at just over £1100, I ditched them pronto. Bunch of rip off sharks...The good part is the new rule that when they tell you your renewal number, they MUST tell you last year's number as well. Previously they would have just written and said "Great news! You can renew for only £937!" and you might have fallen for it.
Your right. It is good they show you last years so you don't have to go and dig it out, but they don't seem to be able to review those, like yours, showing a disproportionate increase. Silly really as they must know it will force you straight to the comparison sites and leave you with a bad taste of rip off.True but when Admiral quoted me £1870 to insure 3 cars vs a previous years premium at just over £1100, I ditched them pronto. My insurance with AIB on all 3 cars due for renewal on 29th April. With the lockdown we are only using the Volvo. This years quote was £459.97. Having taken a voluntary XS of £400 and reduced the mileage to 1500 pa their reduced quote was £328 so have gone with that.
I am sorning the TR6 and QP so need to get laid up cover - but AIB do not offer so if anyone can recommend an insurer please let me know
The TR6 is garaged so should be ok. Trying to get laid up insurance for the QP was difficult - only one came up with £80 for 2 months and £130 for 6 months so I have stuck with AIB and taken full comprehensive cover for 12 months but limited to 1500 miles and £400 XSCan't make any suggestions for the QP but I also have a TR6 and for the minimal cost, you may as well just take out normal classic insurance - I pay a little over £100 a year.
