I’m not sure it is the same. The coupe compressor has three mounting bolts and the GTS four bolts. Plus the part number is different. I’d check it carefully when you get it.
Well, it fit right on! There is one downside, it is not a Delphi part. From what I can tell it's a Chinese unit. Was to be expected for the price. Since this unit saved me only 120 euros versus the delphi unit from compressor-express.com I would probably suggest to go that route. The part that came off was a Delphi. Service history didn't mention any airco compressor so would seem that is the original part.
Replacing the unit wasn't that hard. Getting everything out was a bit hard. Reassembly was just a hour of work. There are some pointers:
- The rear bolt is a bit of a pain. But there is just enough room to use an allen key with a ball end.
- You have to get the right o-rings. I was able to source them from a airco service station. The guy said he got them from an Opel/Vauxhall dealer. They were 15 euro for the pair and they are different sizes. I would expect any good aircon specialist be able to supply these.
Dehydrating filter replacement
Apart from the aircon compressor I also wanted to replace the dehydrating filter (as advies by my mobile airco guy). Biggest issue was that I didn't want to spend 200+ euro's on a replacement oem filter. So after I got the filter out I went looking around and found the same filter is fitted to an Opel Astra/Zafira B. And behold, the most expensive replacement filter is 50 euro's. I just ordered a 20 euro one to make sure it fits (HELLA 8FT 351 193-361). Going by pictures and dimensions its exactly the same. You can find the replacement filter on any automotive parts website. I will pick mine up the this monday and put it back in. After that my the mobile aircon service guy will come and check the system, fill oil and gas en I should be good to go.
Total parts costs is around 420 euro and another 100 for the airco service. And some dirty hands and afternoon under the car.
