How do people go from Maserati to anything else?

355 was the last pretty Ferrari for me....but you will need a bit more money over a 348 to get one surely....Most new Ferraris are just over styled these days where as the 355 was just so clean and the perfect Ferrari.

I agree- the 355 has always been my favourite looks wise. If I lived next door to AV engineeeing I would probably risk having one as a toy. However in the absence of an independent specialist within trekking distance... it’s unlikely!

The answer to the OP's question is: with great difficulty.

I drove mine for about 200 miles yesterday and loved every moment. The noise, the clicky paddles, the lightening-fast gear shifts (thanks, 599 GTO TCU software), the positive attention* and - again - that noise!

For contrast I dropped in on the way home at a dealer of luxury British sports cars and grand tourers. Some of what they had is epic - beautifully made and sound amazing. I'll be taking one or two for a test drive to see how they shape up in real life, but in all honesty they have some serious competition sitting outside on my drive.

*oh, the insecurity!

Tough decision isn't it!

I want a car of this status that my family can enjoy with me so it's pretty limiting when you factor in 4 usable seats. I drove a AM Rapide and Bentley GT before going for my GTS, both nice enough but not in the same league as the GTS for feeling special.

I keep looking at Ferrari FFs, not sure it's going to end well for my bank account if I go and drive one.

Yes, must've been. I love McLarens but they're still expensive, the nearest dealer to me is slap-bang in the middle of London, there are no indies and the Maser sounds better. Pluse I suspect a Macca would attract just too much attention.

I’ll use that line in my next man maths calculations.
AV are just up the road from me! :D

You need to apply a weighting: the closer you are to a really good indie, the better RoI you'll get on your dream car.

For example, because you live really close to AV, you can spend 2x as much money on an unnecessary piece of Italian automotive art as someone who lives in, let's say, Hastings. That 2x extra initial investment will pay out in spades when you come to sell, because your car will be in much better condition and hence worth more than one which has lived further from a good indie and, hence, is more sh!t.

I have been considering them recently... just when I decided to give one a go on Saturday back to back with a 458...they have gone up 5k in last two weeks across the board - must be 4WD and winter coming

Do it mate!!
My man maths has led me astray and I may be making an offer on something in the next few days.
Put off Maclarens for numerous reasons and I really wanted one :(

RE how do people go from Maserati's to other brands - simple - you sell the Maserati for a German car, you say wow - I can't believe how quiet/ smooth/ refined/ solid etc the car feels and how it doesn't give you anxiety - you're ok for 2-3 days - you go on your phone or go on sportsmaserati.com and see one of the pictures that someone posted - you regret the day you sold the Maserati - you go on autotrader/ pistonheads - you trade your German car in for a Maserati - then repeat the cycle

I can only see myself getting an MC-shift. I occasionally entertain the fantasy of an Aston (I think I'd be hiding all the time) or a Ferrari (I *know* I'd be hiding all the time) or a Lambo (I wouldn't give a **** and I'd be broke) :D

Sort of same, I am to self conscious for most Ferrari (599 not included) - and Lambo, - I don't like the look at me here I am scene, where as I don't think most Aston's say enough, so the Maser just about hits the brief... (checked for feral apothecaries)

Hits the brief is about it! I just can't imagine going anywhere else. I like the *idea* of all the other badges but.....
