In 2015, Maserati UK sold 1434 cars. In 2016 they sold.........................1435. Talk about choreography!

....and more importantly, VW sales dropped 7.5% in a market up 2.3%. I don't normally like to see companies' struggling but given how they have made no attempt to deal with dieselgate in Europe I am not surprised as the brand is now toxic as far as I am a concerned.

Interestingly they were well up in December (150 vs 69) which reflects the arrival of Levante. So underlying sales were down a bit. Mind volumes are still only about two times what they were when the GranTurismo came out despite the fact that sales are probably 75% diesel now.

It could be so much more. They're rubbish at understanding the customer's value proposition.

They do seem weak in this regard. I will have another look at a Maser when the new coupe comes out as I don't buy saloons any more and living in rural Scotland means that SUVs coming out of Birmingham are more suited to my life. In the interim my GranTurismo can just sit in the end garage and get used less and less as annual depreciation now it is 5+ years old is actually quite low. Add in two year service intervals and the wow factor when I drive it in on a warm, dry day and it has a lot going for it. As an aside I did 11000 miles the first year I owned it and just scraped 6000 in each of the last two years but it's fun when I use it!

Spot on, with the standard crappy wood, no DAB, no heated seats, only part electric seats....

I liked the wood. A bit like a log fire but still, I liked it.

If they really want to sell them, they should look at all the major manufacturers and build an offer to suit. I mean you can have a zero spec diesel Ghibli for £525 with 9 months down or a 730d Msport or 640d Msport gran coupe for under £500 with spec off the charts. They've also never heard of 0%. Surely there's a few who could be tempted into a 30% down then 0% offer for a new Maserati?

I agree with all of that, including the wood comments.

A £100k Maserati for £30k/GranSport/GranTurismo down, and 0%, I think they would have a lot of takers.

Dec 2015 in Italy saw 59 sales... Dec 2106 saw 233. Overall in 2016 Maserati sales were 2052 (up from 1362 for 2015)

It's all small beer mind. I wish them well but even on the 40-50,000 of annual sales they have done rising to 55-65,000 post Levante, these are still rare cars. Bring on the sports/GT cars.
