I want one. Now!

Hi All
I am not new here. I have lurked around for best part of two years reading through the joys and thrills, ups and downs of being proud owners of these beautiful works of art.

I planned to get one at some stage in the coming years but it's getting to a point that I am having sleep deprivation issues. So I need one now.

My ideal car would have been the QP GTS which is for sale at Richard Grace. But it is something I cannot afford for now.

I am smitten with the red QP Sport GT on sale here: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...uattroporte-v8-sport-gt-4dr-duoselect/4191641

Coming from Lexus LS ownership for the past 8 years, I am predicting a more characterful ownership not only thrill wise but the usual Italian car gremlins and reliability issues. But will be happy to put up with that.

I request any advise you can have for me on the car above or in general to help me get the right car. Any suggestions or warnings from previous owners of Sport GT will be very useful for me.

I plan to go see the car in flesh sometime next week. It is currently with a Jaguar dealership who have sent back a generic reply to my queries on condition, recent expense and clutch wear.

Thanks and finally very happy to be here.

Sommi.

Welcome along & out from the shadows Sommi. I'm sure some QP folk will be along soon with some great advice and you will be suitably armed with all of the knowledge you need. Good luck

Lexus to Maserati?
You're in for a culture shock! Welcome and well done in coming out. Stand up and be proud of being stood at the petrol pump more than before.

Having said that my Lottery winning car is an LFA so, IMO, not all Lexi are old men's cars!

A big warm welcome to the forum....The red has been spoken about already. Looks lovely but colour divides opinion. I like like but think it would suit darker wheels maybe. Just my opinion is that it looks a little over priced for the miles even though its a 2007.

I would also look at this if you don't mind the grey...It's a Sport GTS and regarded as the best model in the range. has less miles and seems like a great buy when most GTS start at 26k..Must be worth a look. The Sport GTS is a sportier version of the Sport GT...You can recognise a SPort GTS with its black window surround, black tail pipes and colour coded door handles.

Wow. Thanks for the warm welcome and very honest suggestions.
Very correct to say that Lexus to maserati will be a massive shock and i think I need it.
I will definitely have look at the GTS and agree the red is overpriced. I reckon by about 4k.
Buying privately gives me the option of warranty wise which is useful. I'll go and check both cars out this week.
Hopefully rail strikes won't make a hash of it!

Sommi, welcome to the forum and apologies, I should have welcomed you in my first post. The Sport GTS is a very good call from Andy and well worth a look. I don't normally like black/black but the alcantara inserts and red stitching look surprisingly good. Good luck with your quest!

Welcome Sommi.
Black one looks nice. Remember an inspection if you feel the need to open your wallet!

GTS is probably the one to have
but I prefer a lighter interior, although there is a sunroof here which may compensate
You have got me thinking again!!
Oh and welcome along

Good call, get in as quick as you can as that will not be around for long.....It wouldn't surprise me if a dealer got in there as well as that for me that as a good mark up at 22k. IT's a 2008 car and the 2007 cars with 50/60k on the clock are up for 26 to 28k...........The Sport GTS will no disappoint against the Sport GT..Both great cars but the GTS is the one to have and should hold it's value better as well.

IS it black...it looks like Grigio Granito to me which is a very dark grey with a sort of hint of brown but can look black in some light. MAy be black though my eyesight ain't what it used to be.

Hi Again. I am trying to fix a visit today!
The colour specified is grey in the advert. So it must be. But looks Black enough.
I would need an inspection for sure. Any recommendations?
Thanks again. It does look like the one to buy.

Update: I have gone and seen it. The condition is very good and there is very little wear/ tear cosmetically. The car drives very planted with no rattles and felt quick enough. I have seen the paperwork and all seems to be as it should be.
I have come back with a window of tonight to make up my mind.
Only thing I felt was that it was a bit quieter than expected. The sport button does not make audible difference. I know the 4.7 GTS is a real big leap on this, but still. The owner did explain that in upper revs its quite a thrilling noise.
What to do? If I buy this, it is a peace of mind purchase. Are there any sensibly priced options to bring out a bit more audible drama out of it?
The dealer who has the red QP Sport GT has been in touch but wont move much price wise. Even after I explained there is a lot more available for similar money.
So Red Sport GT (2007) Vs Cheaper Very Dark Grey Sport GTS (2008).
