Glad we felt the same Stewart! I hate watching TV which makes you feel awkward, imagine being in the audience! Aston bit was ok but the end result was painful, Golf GTI Clubsport was for me the best bit but again very contrived and painful with Rory screaming like a child.

I was watching the audience who at times had that "smile we are on telly" look but clearly were not impressed.
If they lost the whole studio segments and left with purely the reviews it would have been better.
I felt for Sabine who was clearly trying to make the best of a bad lot in the studio after the 'ring feature.
The item on the old 124 and GTI made me think they could do a classic feature every week. Even if it means listening to MLB talking about Feeaat and having " a stick change".
However next week they are reviewing a "Doocaaati" so that might be different.

Just watched it...Yes better than the week before...Agree on the banter....not working. Fiat 124 was a good feature. More like that would be good. The Golf feature was staged. Sabine is the ring Queen so her skill would have got more out of the cat than most but no chance was that quicker around that track than some of the kit it over took. It would have been good yo see it go around the Top,Gear track as that would have told a story.

Half good with the car bits good and the star in car & banter bits boring slow and rubbish. Just ditch star in car and banter then replace with more cars. I guess that is the expensive to film bit especially on location whereas star bit & banter is cheap. Unless the star fee is expensive....in which case use this to film more on location car stuff.

Enjoyed the Aston/Merc bit the rest was **** I though, sorry.

Sabine spoilt the Golf bit fir me, just don't see her relevance. Rory also starting to look like a fifth wheel.

MLB and CH brilliant and very watchable.

Star in the car, agree with above, drop it, only Clarkson could pull that off.

I think that depends quite a bit on the driver. Put me on the Ring with a £150k Lambo and I would be passed by anyone with some experience of the circuit! (As people will discover at Llandow.)

I agree, which is why it meant nothing. They should have put it around the Top Gear track and that would have shown how quick it was. Plus what a biting looking hot hatch. If you are building a light weight stripped out hot hatch it needs attitude and that looked like every other boring Golf. Good car or not....34k....having a laugh....

Haven't watched it. I really find the 'acting' detracts from the rest of the show. Now that I know there's a Fiat 124 spider bit I'll probably take a look, and skip over the talky bits.

Sabine in a Land Rover Discovery TDI would pass most drivers in a Huracan on the ring trust me.

Going to go the opposite way from most on here and say I think they are starting to get it right. I enjoyed this episode and think the three presenters have settled in well now to an entertainment format that is yes, well worn, but still has some legs. Tbh, I preferred this to the GT with the three idiots.

I'm with Greg and am enjoying this latest series. Perfectly pleasant way to while away a quiet hour of evening downtime.

Unfortunately they can't drop the star in the car section . Having a guest on means that the show then falls under "Entertainment" rather that "Specialist Interest " and therefor gets a much bigger budget.

A loop hole first used by the Young Ones who had bands on . ......"To the station !"

If the guest is interesting rather than just a mate of the presenter as in Sunday's show, I think the feature works fine but was there really any need to have an agricultural machine chopping up a shed and a Volvo. Even when I was a kid I would have found that pointless but maybe I was just born serious?

The fact that they used to have people like Tom Cruise on and now they have Tamazin Gregg sort of sums it all up really .

The problem with making it a purely car show is that they won't be able to capture the worldwide audience they need to.

Which is why the original TG was a success. It evolved from a car show to a worldwide entertainment show where actually the number of people that watched it in the U.K. were the minority.

So, what did we think of last nights serving?

Again, ok in parts, but found myself hitting the FFWD for large parts of it again.

The Bugatti was very good, Star in the car, bollox again (FFWD), the Twingo started well but FFWD when the PacMan game started and WTF was the end challenge all about, of course he was going to win in a Jet, stupid and pointless albeit for some nice glamour shots.

With some work it could be a great show they just need to find their own tweaked format and stop copying the old shows dialog as it just does not work.

The main car reviews have been good though.
