My uncle and dad are racing drivers, they dealt with maseratis and Ferrari’s, they have told me the gs handles like ****, that’s how I know haha, plus the fact everyone always try’s to justif saying they need to be set up right and good tyres etc, yet I can jump in my old e46 and it corners at 60mph effortlessly

buy a Maserati with your heart not your head , head would suggest something else completely , whichever one makes you think wow when you walk up to it is the one you want

Yes compared to a race car the GS probably is “****”, whatever that means.

Yep, would be that one for me too

Personally I'd have the QP GTS over the lot...£37K.......should be on crimewatch, what a steal and absolutely f***** gorgeous.

Practical too.

Pocket the saving and use it to run the thing.

Cheers Wattie

I'm with Beau on this point having owned both, the BMW inspires confidence the GS requires a lot of aftermarket tweaking to get right. I'm in it for the long haul so will do that.
Interesting fact from a recent service visit. Maserati fitted stronger left rear springs to compensate for driver weight but didn't sort it for RHD! 3 cars in the showroom & workshop all had left rear clearance closer at the top.

Do agree on the E46 Beau.....I had a standard car and a CSL and both felt so planted and so much fun straight out the box....In fact my E39 M5 did as well....Its what BMW do so well.

But presumably they've never drive one either.......

I've owned an E46M3, and it doesn't even come close

Really....Far better handling car. I drove mine on track and the same day a GS....and although I loved the GS as its a great car it certainly didn't handle as well as the M3....But are they the same car....probably not as the GS is more the GT than sports car....The paddle shift is too slow witted to make it an out and out sports car which isn't a bad thing. I test drove MAF's GS at Dock Lovett before he bought it but couldn't get a deal right against my M3 CSL but the one thing that came across was that the paddle shift was so much slower to change than the CSL....but then the CSL was a track warrior. It wasn't a bad thing just a different type of car that you didn't drive the same was as the BMW. But for me it was never about which was best, who was faster but about how the cars made you feel and both had the excitement factor.

So let me understand this. You drove your M3 CSL (ie not a standard M3) that you had presumably owned for a while and done some miles in on a track back to back with somebody else's GS. And you think that's a fair comparison?

Your skills are clearly on a level only slightly below Beau's in that you need only 10 mins to be able to fully explore and understand how to drive a car like the GS at 10/10ths. Surprised you aren't driving on Sunday.

Anyway, not going to indulge this nonsense any further. I will shut up and go back to enjoying and driving the cars I own and love.

No I drove a standard M3 that was mine on track with a GS.....If you read what I said you will see I love the GS but the fact is it didn't handle as well as the M3. I have driven many GS and had one for two weeks when a friend let me look after his when he was on holiday which I used and loved so please don't get on your Maserati high horse and all defensive over you beloved Maserati. I certainly wasn't slagging off the GS just talking about my experience and yes I have not been lucky enough to own one like you have.

You are coming over as quite holier than thou. The M3 CSL and even Standard E46 M3 would destroy a GS in the handling stakes for sure. They are widely regarded as the best handling cars out there (just like the Z4M, 1M).

Really? The best handling cars out there? Better than a P1? 720s? And any number of other true performance cars. Hilarious

And who's being ludicrous now? You are comparing a M3 Saloon car to a hypercar! Honestly! Get back in your box!!!!
