Curious to know the outcome of this.

Have you bought a red car Dave and allowed budget to paint it blue?

No - Peter very kindly took time out of his dat and swung bye to have a look, we had a brief chat on the phone.

Peter never got to drive it but his general impression was it was an average car which needed some TLC.

Its strong I think Andy but its a 1 owner car with full history, my first offer would have started with a 3 - Just....

I think the asking price is fair given mileage, single ownership, service history and clutch change. Pretty sure it would be 2 or more likely 3k more with full leather.

Maybe, but we all know the asking price isn’t the price!
And I don’t believe warranty is included, they were looking to get the clutch measured,
Yes I know it had one at 25, mine imploded @ 33, and was assumed 2nd clutch.
Looks a nice car, just shame about that bright blue, brought back Fiat 500 nightmares for me.

ADG provide a 6 month warranty as standard, with a limit of £3k per claim for a car that age.

If that car had avorio or beige full leather I'd have been knocking on their door pretty sharpish!

Price is alwaYs a subjective discussion. When I saw it first I thought it would have been around 29995. Interior will put many off. Think if t had a more appealing interior then the 30k plus would be on the cards.

£500 per claim...

If there is 1k in price for warranty that makes no sense having it. Clutch 2.5k and you get 500 towards it after paying 1k for warranty means it's 3k, may as well at least get warranty price off car and put that in war chest.

Agreed. £500 pretty useless for a Maserati, which means all you've really got in terms of warranty is the dealers statutory 30 days.

ADG quoted me a £3k limit on a 6 year old car (£5k on cars up to 5 years old) so I assume the limit drops further for cars c.10+ years old.

The Consumer Sales act of 2016, October revision, provides you with a 6 month warranty with no limit, from any car dealer, where something goes wrong on any car you buy within the first 6 months.
Effectively it's all the warranty you need.

It was put in place to stop dodgy car dealers selling dodgy motors.

Just to add. I'm not saying any of the dealers on here are dodgy, but that's what the act was put in place to protect consumers against.

I had no idea. That's really useful to know, thank you Mark.

So all those traders advertising 3 months warranty.......

It got me the new clutch on my GT.

Obviously you need to do some research, but generally it will cover things which stop you being able to use the car.
A broken sun visor is unlikely to be covered.

The rule is, if it breaks within 6 months of the purchase date, it is deemed to have been a fault on the car at the time of purchase.

Which effectively gives you a 6 month warranty.
