would service not being done every year put you off a car??

I agree Frank...Inspection and as long as the rest looks good but.........The onl problem I have is that we all say well its a supercar and needs more attention...Why..?...A service is a service......Its still and engine that needs an oil filter change and a few checks here and there.....Yes in a higher state of tune than ou run of the mill engine but high end car makers use this to good advantge to pull you pants down when it comes to servicing your car.......My Dad was a machanic and he was he used to sa it was just a way of getting money into the compan as most cars could go longer between services......I tend to agree........

Andy that makes so much sense. The bits and bobs I've done on the 4200 seem almost *easier* than some cars I've worked on, simply as they are properly put together. Granted some of the systems are (unecessarily?) complex, and some of the jobs take more hours than lesser cars, but I'm not sure there is much more *skill* required. Experience, perhaps.
Some of the received wisdom is un-helpful as well. Parrot install a case in point. One of the easiest I've done.

Once they go over a certain age /mileage there will be additional unavoidable bills regardless.......

God bless my credit card provider.........:).......yup been an expensive time.....but got no option, once they get to an age, you reduced most of depreciation but running costs take a steep rise!

I think it just depends on the car. Sometimes older cars can just keep going and need very little, another will need loads at one point in time, then nothing for years apart from service items. My 1998 XJR had 168,000 miles on her when I sold, still going strong and needs very little. During it's life with me, it had the best of everything and that paid me back in good service mile after mile..!!
