Windscreen trim dilemma

I got a used screen, it has the metal frame on but no rubber surround, they are basically impossible to remove without damaging this, now I was told the mans windscreen guy will be able to just glue the screen in as normal and just fit a rubber seal round the edge, but he didn't have anything which fitted.... Any ideas ? New is £170 plus vat, haven't got this right now and car needs to be moved out of bodyshop !!!!

The only thing I can think of is to make your own seal by filling the gap with black sealant then trimming it off. A messy job, suppose you just have to bite the bullet and buy the trim I suppose.

The other way round it is to fit the old screen back in and whoops, I dropped something on it in the garage....must call the insurance company to arrange a replacement :)

I tried to make a claim for the screen, and it put my insurance up from £900 to £5000 the next year, doesn't effect no claims bonus but still have to declare the 'claim'

That was admiral

Spoke to some places and they all seem to think I will need the trim, so who can get me one cheaper than eurospares?

I think you might have to bite the bullet mate, have you tried David Askew..?? You will need a sound windscreen rubber to get the seal you need..!!
