I currently have the 20" birdcage wheels with 285/35/20 tyres - Pirelli. (GT 4.2L AUTO)

They are running low- partly to blame is my new GTS exhaust!!

I was thinking of going wider. I remember fitting 315's to my 911 which made its stance from the rear look considerably better than the standard 295's

Can the wheels take this width and do you think it will make a good difference or should I go for spacers?

Would I need to get 315/35/20 or 315/30/20.......or even 305'??

Any advice will help!

Im no expert on tyres, but at a minimum i would be looking at maintaining the the aspect ratio of the tyre, when you go wider. Plenty of calculators on the web to check this. Changing the aspect ratio too much might affect the ABS and TC. Also ive heard of maintaining the size difference front and back, again for ABS and TC purposes. Please check with a tyre specialist or a Maser expert on this matter.

I have a few sets of GTS wheels and Tyres currently for sale, might work out cheaper than buying just a set of tyres.

If you do want to go wider, then the Spacers are a good option. Im running 22mm on my GTS. We have a few options, so feel free to give me a call to discuss.

Hello Firas,
I've fitted 22 mm spacers from Noor on my GTS.
In my opinion they do enough to improve the stance of the car all round.
It's difficult enough getting the stock size tyres for the GT, wider ones might be even scarcer.

I have always thought that going too wide on the actual tyre, leaves you open to tyre wallow. The edges of the wheel itself should ideally be level with the edge of the main tread, if they are not and you go in to a corner hard, the tread and tyre can potentially move sideways, even if this is only a small amount, the car could become unstable and the tyre walls would be under severe stress.
