Which tyre brand should I choose for my 20" multi trident rims for my QP Sport GT S

That's why I am trying the Contis - got sick of excessive inside front edge wear on the Pirellis. My car is on the two year extended warranty and I've got no intention of playing with the geo.

Turns out you cannot get the supersports for the rear on the GTS at the moment so it looks like I'm stuck with Pirelli. Need to investigate the contis as well but have been given a good price on a full set of K1 pirellelis (prices have certainly dropped).

Struggling to know whether to do the fronts as most of the tyre is between 6-8mm with a thin strip of the inner edge down to 1mm.

Would you change at this point?

Same situation here - fronts are still good but the rears are bolloxed. New PZeros on their way from Black Circles (2 x Pirelli P Zero (Maserati) 285/35 R20 Y (100) for £376 delivered). I'd have gone for something else but will wait until fronts and rears all need doing at once. Incidentally, finding the right sizes in a for both front and rear limits the choices.

the GTS has Michelin Pilot Super Sports and they are as grippy as anything ive ever used before, very quiet and wear well, I have no choice on the fez it has to have Pzeros and I really dislike them. Bridgestones I feel dont suit the GTS as they seem to let go quickly and wear terribly.

And now I have 4 brand new ones on the GTS :)

Maserati have for a long time gone with PZEROS but I got on much better with Goodyear Eagle F1s on my AC. They were considerably better in the wet & offered better rim protection too.

Make sure you have checked the inner edge of your fronts as it seems unusual that your fronts have gone before the rears if you are running factory geometry (assuming they were previously fitted at the same time). Unless of course you are a drift champion ;)

Fronts were replaced last year, rears the year before (iirc).

Inside edge of the off-side rear had worn most so I should probably get my alignment checked.

So I need new rears. Got plenty of tread left on the fronts so will stick with P Zero's this time and look at changing all 4 next time. What sort of prices are people paying for 285 35 ZR20 100Y P Zero's?

Have the Vredsteins Sessanta Ultrac (now upgraded and called Vortis I think8)- bit noisy, but very good in the wet and are progressive when giving the beans in the dry.

All tyres have dropped a lot in price in the last year so a quick online search will answer this. Bear in mind that there are about four different versions of the P Zero in that size.

PS Checked the inside edges of the fronts?

Yeah had a quick look online Bob

Regards the different versions, I actually went on Pirelli's website and it showed that only 'straight forward' P Zero's were available in that size and non of the others were? Corsa etc.

Haven't checked the fronts but will. I'll be getting a wheel alignment done on a Hunters machine at the same time

Yep but they are all regular P Zeros but they make about four or so different compounds with different markings. If you look on, say, camskill or mytyres you will see a variety of SKU references for what appears to be the same tyre.

Ok so about to buy new rears, have Pirelli P Zeros on the front and replaced two that had inner wear edge so bad it was ridiculous so once rears are on its off to Marios for some alignment.

So Im looking at the threads and would like to stick Michelin or Continentals on the rear (GTS) or even Vredestein seems to have good options.

Looking at Catskill here are the options what are peoples thoughts on

Mixing brands - front and rear
Personal choice for the rears based on wear and driving ?

Thanks

Personally I would not mix. Continental and Michelin are both higher treadwear index than Pirelli.

Just recently put fresh rubber on the GT front and back.

Went with Pirelli P Zeros.

Maser specialist warned against mixing tyres.

Better set-up for the car in terms of ride, handling and balance if the tyre brand/spec is the same front and rear.

Do any of you look at the dB levels or the grip levels now seen on tyre websites now.
I've gone with dunlops because of this. Lower Road noise, still good grip in dry and wet weather and they have low rolling road resistance hence good return on mpg.

No I hadn't but I will
dB is a logarithmic scale so there is a massive difference between say 80dB and 83dB
just out of interest don't you know

Hi guys, just fitted a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 2's to my QP5 with 19 inch to the front. Absolute bargain at £278.00 for the pair...yes for the pair fitted! www.tyretraders.com they're in Sutton Coldfield just north of Birmingham also sell on line to get fitted yourself!

When I bought the car it had Falkens on all round have had Bridgestones on the rear (£448 for the pair) since & didn't like them plus didn't last at all! Put a pair of Accellera on the rears last time as an experiment, out lasted the Bridgestones & no loss of performance or grip & at £138 for the pair were fine, however there is no rim protection at all. Will now gaet the Michelins to match the fronts as the price from these guys is less than I can get the Falkens as came with my car!

Ive used a few on the GTS (for various reasons) all of this is IMO of course and I tend to be ******* tyres!

Bridgestones - awful IMO, wear quickly and have OK grip in dry but absolutely terrifying in the wet.
P Zeros - noisy, wear quickly and average in the wet - great in the dry though. Don't suit the GTS but were great on the 360.
Michelin Pilot Sport - very odd as they dont seem to wear but grip like slicks in the dry, OK in the wet, seem to be better when cold! go figure. By far the best road tyres ive had on a car and suit the GTS perfectly.
Eagle F1 - on the 4200 Spyder and just right - they don't do the sizes for a GTS not sure about GT.

last xmas I think Miles noted that my GTS seemed to have a modicum more grip on the run to the pub - so thats a conversation to be had

Mind you Michelins don't come off well when you hit fork lift forks at 60:frusty6:
