Which fuel for Maseratis?

I presume that Maseratis require super-unleaded petrol. I have always used Shell V-Power in all my previous and current cars. What fuel do you guys use and have you noticed any difference in performance, engine smoothness, etc., when experimenting with different fuels from different suppliers?

Regular for me. I do give it Super now and again, and to be honest, I get a good 20 miles extra out of a tank, so its probably worth the extra dosh.

V Power for me; seems wrong to slum it with such a sophisticated engine and at 4/5k per annum for me not that big a £ impact.

I recall a 5th Gear episode a while back where, for high performance cars, they got an extra 10% torque and power using high octane. Not why I use it though.

I had this discussion with HR Owen recently and the story is for everyday driving 95 octane is fine. If you intend to use the performance to the limit like perhaps on track days or belting across German autobahns then super will give you a little added performance. The Maserati is quite happy to flip between both grades of fuel and will adjust accordingly.

Good to know,
I use regular most of the time,
with occasional fills using super,

Re the Fifth Gear feature it is turbocharged cars that as standard make the biggest gains using V-Power, normally aspirated cars don't benefit from quite such a dramatic gain.

It does take the ECU a while to adjust to the new fuel and although you usually feel a difference quite quickly but it takes a bit of running to fully adjust, so if you want to get the maximum out of a better fuel say on a track day you want to fill the car up a couple of times in advance to get the full benefit.

We get the same effect in racing, we have been testing over the winter using Super Unleaded pump fuel but with the season starting over Easter this week we switched the cars to 102 race fuel to ensure they are flushed through and the ECU's adjust prior to the first races.

My tuned Impreza road car runs best on either Shell V-Power or Tesco 99, it is mapped specifically for SUL and there is a noticeable drop off with other brands of SUL.

I always use V-Power in mine and it loves it, just keeps on drinking all I put in...

I use V Power whenever possible - I'm sure I've read that the biggest variance between fuels is the cleaning additives (or lack of them) that can prevent mineral build up, and ensure you keep more horses long term....

v-power whenever i fill up, i have put in bp ultimate which is 97ron i never saw difference, but seeing as shell is near me i always put 99ron v-power, i do get tempted at times to fill up with 95 but scared of what it can do to my engine, on the fuel flap it says 98ron

Dem I still continue with higher octane even though HR Owen say it is a waste of money......just does not feel right putting premium fuel into a Maserati

Shell high grade fuel only, not just because of the performance gains, I was under the impression that the additives kept your engine cleaner than standard supermarket ****.
