So what's the collective thoughts on the best CTEK for the Granturismo. Have been thinking the MXS 5.0, unless others think there is a better alternative?

I rather doubt there's much difference between the models. 5.0 certainly gives you lots of LEDs :D

^ Any model will do what is required. I have one screwed to each end of the garage, ( Just because one car had front mounted battery, and I was too lazy to change it.) One is a basic model, and one has lots of lights, not noticed any difference in performance other than the select button on the fancier one can sometimes be temperamental.

I’ve been using the MXS 5.0 for a few years without any problems on the 3200 and recently on the GS.

Guys, don't get fussy over which brand of electricity you're going to charge your car with. Any charger is capable.

I have the ctek 5 amp item and the aldi. Personally I think the Aldi is just as good as the Ctek.
The Ctek being a bit more 'intelligent' does 'give up' on batteries that are failing whereas the Aldi one will recover ones that have been deeply discharged to a usable state.

Agreed. My experience as well.

I have the 5.0 Ctek but only use it when the car hasn't been driven in a while (e.g. an overnight top up every couple of weeks) rather than continuously hooked up

I think I need to upgrade my charger. I bought one a few years back for my VX220 from Aldi, and its been great, but I don't think its man enough for the GS battery, as it only seems to want to charge the battery to just over half way, then its stops. May get a beefier version

If you really want to go to the nth degree you should have temperature compensation sensors when charging a battery but really, can you really justify the expense especially if you have a 5 year guarantee on your Bosch S5 battery that you've kept the receipt for just in case...

Not sure I get the thinking.....larger batteries like the one in the GT in OZ cost over $500, cheaper ones with lower ampage can be had. Hauling them out to replace is a pain the the **** at the best of times, usually when you really need the car!
