Why are there so few new cars on the market at the moment...plenty of older ones, and high miles but nothing I want to spend my greens on!

All the cars seem to be ones which have not sold for months/years...looked at the Bronze 4200 [04] but want blue to be honest.

Well start with my old 4200 up in the Midlands. on the market for 12 months, now at £12,750, with a perfect history when I sold it. 73000k so its done 1k in a year!

I know what you mean, when I was looking most of the new cars coming up on Pistonheads were actually the same old ones.

Not sure how accurate this is GD...its been questioned before....however if numbers incorrect, then hoping they are ALL relatively incorrect, might give us some idea

The facelift cars, as we all know, are so much better that they tend to get snapped up. Once sold, as they're more reliable and a rewarding drive, people tend to keep them, hence fewer on the market. If people have a facelift 4200 and are thinking of selling they probably have a look at what else they can afford and decide to keep it as IMO, and that of most forum members, nothing gets close for the money.

Fair comment Dicky......but most 4200s should be in a decent condition by now...all getting on and hoping a few quid spent on them....

I'd say the ones owned by enthusiasts and have possibly fewer owners will be in better condition. Most Maserati owners tend to look after their 4200's but there's a few rough cars about too.

Trouble is as with all of these type of cars is that they are in the reach of people who buy them because they are cheap and then find running them is far more then they though and bits are missed when servicing etc.....
