WHEEL SPACERS for Gransport

Hi all,

Thought I'd post up some pics of the GS after fitting wheel spacers all round.
Always thought the wheels looked too 'sunken' sat in the arches, but reckon the spacers improve the look and stance no end.

Purchased them from Hills Engineering (excellent reputation for all things Ferrari/Maserati) who also made up the longer bolts required.
Both items top quality - and the bolts even come with the identical polished heads (as OEM).
Spacers are lightweight alloy - 15mm for both front and rear.

A great modification, looks so much better. I did this to mine last year, but bought the longer stainless bolts from Sprogs.

They do look very, very good. I plan on fitting these to a 3200 in the not too distant future. I wonder if it will look as good?

I've been tempted, but there's so much else I'd think about spending on.....

Looks super, though.

Might go for this, would need the longer bolts from sprogs as you say, Mark. I have his normal sized ones on now.

Congratulations, it is just perfect!

I don't like when it's "over flush", so I would never put 25mm at the rear. 15 all round is a perfect choice and should keep the balance the same.

I happened to purchase 15mm spacer for the 4 corners yesterday, I'll post the pictures, probably sometimes next week when I have time to install it.

A question thats been asked many times.......And not really answered.......All I know is that Porsche offered spacers on the option list for the 911...Now I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have put them on if there was an issue...

Well it's pretty easy to calculate, but the issue would be knowing how much tolerance there is in the load the bearing is designed to accept.

FWIW, I'd have thought worst case, you'd wear out the bearing a tiny bit faster.

Slinc, which spacers did you buy from hills, do you still have the part number?

Hi Chris,
The spacers from Hills are WS015.

They don't supply the exactly correct bolt length (which would be OEM +15mm = 47mm), rather they cut down 50mm bolts to 48mm.
This is the max that 50mm can be pared down to whilst still leaving enough thread to reach a safe level of 'thread turns'.

The extra 1mm doesn't effect anything.

If in any doubt, speak to Diane Oxford @ Hills. She's really helpful and gave me a small 'Sports Maserati forum' discount.

Wow Slinc, yes they do look perfect. I just got hold of one myself here in Bangkok, Thailand and looking for modifications for the Gransport right now. This would certainly be worth considering and thanks for sharing!

I have heard a lot of good things about Hill Engineering from a buddy of mine who orders quite a few things for his F355. He mentions they are definitely good quality while prices are very reasonable as well.

Thanks for the confirm on the part number.

I currently have stainless steel bolts from forum member sprogs...he seems to have made longer ones for Mark (MAF) so I'll ask if he can do the same again (might be able to sell mine to offset the price)

I'm going to have my winter tyres changed back to normal tyres for the Llandow meet, so will try to have everything ready to be fitted at the same time.

Slinc, after reading this from you I today dropped an email to Hills.
I am willing to get from them 2 prs of 15mm spacers & bolts for front & rear.
Diane replied me asking to ensure the PCD measurements. I trust 2002 Coupe Cambiocorsa has same PCD with Gransport, correct? Which is that?
Thank you and any other may reply in advance

Hi Slinc

I used to live in Chelsfield so know of Hills. Would it be possible to meet you at some point to have a look at how the car looks with the spacers? I can drive up the A21 - maybe could meet in Farnborough, or Sevenoaks if you fancy a blast in the GS. Or anywhere in between?

I know the spacers are an improvement in terms of looks, but have you noticed any detrimental effects on handling? I understand it can make things feel soggy or vague...
