You can't say that in this day and age!!.........Me too! 80's & 90's

Bloody can. Just playing with a pair of Bose headphones I bought in CA in May for running, but have only used a couple of times as I can no longer run. Thought they might work well on the laptop. And they rather do, so spinning odds and sods from my music collection :D

I have, but it's not. Tried some many years ago, and then about 10-15 years back. Dunno if I was too used to motorbikes or what but I just didn't enjoy the road experience, and burning calories takes *ages* :D

I scored a cheap cross trainer from ebay (there's thousands of them) which is pleasant enough in the garage with some music or an iPad. Not quite the same, but beggars can't be etc etc

Have you considered the Concept2 rower? If a little competition alleviates the boredom of training the indoor rowing comps are plentiful. The new monitors also allow racing against the machine (that's almost a music thread reference) or I believe, via internet , racing against others.

I have, but I really hate rowing machines. Apart from anything else the sitting position aggravates my hips. There are similar things available for the cross trainer :)

Wouldn't necessarily draw comparison between post hip-op recovery and your condition.
Plenty of rowers simply adjust position on the seat - but if you've gone the x-trainer route fair enough.

Never been able to get comfortable, as I've never seen any adjustment on them? Maybe I've been missing something all these years :)

The trainer was cheap (<£100 for a £700 unit, very lightly used) so it made some sense. Mrs C is doing C25K again, and I'll try to stick with her for some of it, but it's definitely not comfortable (afterwards) . Walking still good though!

Posture adjustment rather than seat - they're fixed as you say. But isolating, as far as possible, the troublesome area, etc., etc.
Losing a lot of power in the process but still maintaining CV condition. Swimming? Although the X-thingy sounds a bargain.
Anyway, before Big Al gets upset, you'll like this one
