The car to buy will be the 4.2 only because of the miles .
The 4.7 is a better car but if you take up to 75000 nobody will buy it of you .

Why would you want to sell as they certainly do the miles. Or at least my old 4200 can.

Mines now done 55k and, touch wood, it has never run better. If I was going to keep it I would go for the GTS and, I reckon, there is likely to be more movement on the price than there is on the 4.2.

77-78k on mine. I struggle to discern anything amiss. I've never really been put off by high mileage, if maintenance has been good, and you're educated. My 116 had 140k on it.....

This mileage obsession is an utter farce. These cars and many of their ilk hate sitting around anyway, and these in particular are GT's, designed for crossing continents. Give me a car that's done 500 miles a week on proper runs with proper maintenance and history over a 100 miles week stop/starter every time. It makes even more sense to buy a car with slightly stronger miles if you don't do too many yourself. Even my Noble M400 is a far better car at 36K miles than it was at 8K miles when I got it, it's averaged 4K miles a year and yet some people think it's a lot for that type of car....the same people with garage queens that have ended up with no end of problems, caused by short journeys, track work and worse, lack of use.
Pay over the odds for a low miler, or let someone else suffer the big depreciation on one with stronger miles. If the history and maintenance stack up,( I'm not talking about those two examples in particular however) it's a no brainer for me.

Just had an interesting chat with the mechanic looking after my Gransport - they are currently getting a lot of calls from people who have laid the cars up for a couple of years and with the weather last weekend brought their cars out of mothballs. The results were inevitable. He rather appreciated the state of my - covered in winter grime. She was given a work out every few weeks, just to keep the fluids moving and the tyres from flat spotting.

I couldn't agree more on running the cars. I am now aiming for 4 to 6k per year. The resale value of the car is now so secondary to the pleasure I derive. Just my guess but I wouldn't be surprised if the 3200/4200/Gransport line hit a bottom point in values in the next couple of years and then start to creep up. Remember looking at 550 Maranellos when they were 30-35k. Now look at them 50k + and I guess they made a fair few of those.

I have been pondering this thought for a while myself.

Been looking for No.3 for quite a while, and as time moves on thinking that the early GTs could move into the high twenty's soon...Given that I tend to saunter across Europe with the odd Alpine dash a 4.2GT would be a very welcome addition...and as prices for GS and early GT start to merge one I think of more and more.
