Hi

A potentially stupid question.

I am after a hand tool that can exert a similar force to a bench vice. I'm thinking something like a pair of pliers with a ratchet to steadily increase the pressure.

Does such a thing exist?

It is to be used for bending closed a metal clip.

Thanks

Hard to say without more details. Critically, of course, the strength and size of the metal clip. I'm a brute force and ignorance kind of chap so would heartily recommend a combination of bench vice, club hammer, and pliers.

If I had a bench vice, then I'd be fine. But I've no bench vice nor anywhere to put one.

Any ideas?

Phil, thanks. Of course!! I think I've got a pair of vise grips, fingers crossed it'll do the job.

Thanks

Is it for one of those neat Maserati hose clips?
If so, a normal pair of carpenter's pincers will open and close it.
