What have you done to your Maserati today?

Took my 3200 for the last blast of this year before going back to the garage for hibernation and TLC.

Can’t get enough of those turbos catapulting the car … must be why I can’t seem to make less than 17L/100 …

Fortunately the only light frequently lighting in the dashboard is the fuel reserve light …

Took the 3200 out for 40 mile drive through the back roads of the Isle of Wight, just for the fun of it! There’s still a lot of flood water pouring off the fields in places even after a dry day yesterday. A mix of sunshine and rainbows this afternoon … I feel better for it and I think the car does too.

Saw a very helpful auto trimmer about a booster seat (as suggested by the Millbrook trainers) so I can see over the steering wheel ;) and made an appointment for Roary to see Dr Matt at the SI clinic for some minor treatment in preparation for his exercise next year which is in the planning.

(Just as an aside someone on the Ghibli forum was looking for advice so I pointed them at SI. Were very happy with the conversation they had. Ultra helpful. I assume the were talking to Ash) ;)

Switch cleaner.
Squirted it into the fuel filler cap cover release mechanism so that the little nylon bolt will withdraw properly and let the cover open when I press the button on the dash. It displaced lots of black grott, which I wiped off with a paper tissue and now opens sweetly every time :)

Lovely little drive across Surrey in the foothills of the Hog's Back to Waverley and back.
Silver autumn sunlight picking out the droplets of rain still on the copper and gold of the tree leaves. Loveley views from the hills. Delightful old villages to purrr through.
And the merest little bit of snorting past things on the Hog's Back itself.
Ah, to be in Maserati now that England's here.

Collected it from the detailers. Nearly the second visit in as many months. Fair play to Autoglass for footing the £230 bill to rectify the wings/pillars and roof. Highly recommend Dean Smallwood https://dsautodetailing.co.uk/ in Flintshire to anyone in N.E.Wales/Borders area. For anyone interested I originally paid £1050 for full polish and ceramic detail and some minor/accessible dent removal (He had the car 5 days). I need to remove the interior for the harder to get stuff for which I've been quoted a ballpark £650 elsewhere so that's a job for the spring as I (insert expletive) hate dents.

Didn’t do anything to mine today, but yesterday I gave her a good wash and polish and she was beading beautifully in the rain today.

Later this week I am taking her to Stoke and then down to Gaydon so she needed a little love.

Picked up a set a couple of months ago in the Matt graphite finish
Turns out mine were Matt Graphite too! It was just the lighting in the pictures that made them look silver.

To be fair the discription and part number said it was too.

There's a few marks on them, so might as well get them refurbished while they are off.

Just trying to decide whether to be brave and change the colour as I'm normally not a fan of matt wheels. Although, these do seem to catch the light quite well and still show some detail.
Still got to be dark though, as I like the way my white brakes stand out behind dark wheels.

Hmm decisions...

So this was yesterday...

Time to fix the dreaded abs/wheel bearing, as MOT this week and needed to get the dash light off.

Took a chance on a pattern part at around £375, so will let you know how long that lasts.

Definitely think that corrosion was the issue with the one that came off. Might clean it up and keep as an emergency spare.

Short test drive showed a successful day.

Spyder off today to SI for service & MOT.
Not without issue… off trickle and backed out of garage. 4 hrs later off to SI. After a while noticed no wipers, indicators etc, etc; only things working - engine gearbox and radio and I think an interior light. Stop or keep going?

Chose the latter while watching Voltage which slowly climbed above 12.

Arrived OK - re-started the car and all was well. Related this to Ash “it’s Italian!” Discussion re trickle charging. When the car returns, if on trickle will try using a plug timer to give 12 on/12 off rather than long periods of trickle?

Is there a big relay somewhere that the ECU decides to leave off in certain situations to preserve Amps?

Took it out for a late afternoon drive (summer here) and spotted a mobile speed camera so on the way back when I was next to it I dropped a couple of gears and gave it a good full blast :cool::D very juvenile but very satisfying too! You can still do that here..

Likewise I’d normally prefer gloss like the black tridents I had on before but have to say the Matt finish is actually a good contrast.

My GT is white though so not sure in your case being black on black but maybe in Matt it would set off the alloys from the car a little & make them stand out more - a positive in my eyes.

There’s also something about the graphite finish as you noticed already that the shade can vary in different light/angles
Most of the time from a distance they look black unless up close
