The Alfieri will after all be built on the Guilia platform without too much tweaking and will have the V6 from the Quadrofiglio or an all electric mode from Chrysler............but nothing until after 2020. Can't wait, well yes I can actually providing it is at least as quick as a mass produced Alfa saloon......come on Maserati get a grip.

It's good news ...... Still a few years away then. Wonder if the design will change dramatically from the concept...

We will have regular space travel by the time maserati build a car which does 0-60 in less than 4 seconds.

If it has an electric motor in it it will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds surely......Why do I see the word Chrysler and get turned off....Anyway we should celebrate that we shall see this car in 2 years....Yes 5 years or more years too late but a car we have been asking for.....Sort of.....

Official?...

Did they not officially announce 'when' some years ago, along with the replacement for the GT etc.

Some time after 2020, again thats rather ambiguous, but I hope it does come along within the early part of the next decade; and give that is when wages are expected to rise again in real terms people my buy them.

Just three wishes from me;
1) Please don't ape the Ghibli and Levante desigh stlye
2) Or the Chirsler parts bin, and
3) For pitty sake no Diesel

The only 'official' bit is it is on the Guilia platform, chassis etc with the same power unit linked to the same box with the same drive train.. so in other words it's an Alfa much like the 8c was a Maser.

Chrysler have a significant holding in the Elec tech industries in the US so it's inevitable where the electric will come from as Maser are no where near big enough to even design their own let alone make it and now that despite superficial face lifts the Ghibli and QP sales are very much in decline and the Levante sales peaking with overall sales this year down on last year even Maserati can't ignore the very urgent need for a new halo car.

I've driven the qv Guilia and it's a fantastic car with a fantastic chassis. The 8 speed auto is just as quick as a typical twin clutch and the engine spools up like a proper race car plus DMS are already looking at getting 550 -560 bhp from it so it could be the Alfieri will tick all the boxes plus being mostly built on an existing car could come in at well under 100k

You mean emptying of all those people buying Ghiblis, QP VIs and Levantes?

C
I don't think there is that many do you, I still haven't see a Levante on the road, I know I'm up North but it's only Yorkshire and we go to Newcastle at least once a month and I travel up and down A19 everyday.
The die hards will always be there but I think fringe people won't bother.

Is that world sales??

European sales figures Dave.

Im not sure we can say Levante sales have peaked in europe. Too early to tell from the data available. It didnt launch until part way through 2016 so no full year figures to compare. August and September 2016 / 2017 are very similar. The rest of the years figures are up in 2017 against 2016 but low availability in the 1st 7 months of 2016 will distort the gap.

Maserati
Levante
2016 / 2017

January 0 / 693
February 0 / 475
March 33 / 870
April 1 / 429
May 6 / 545
June 86 / 484
July 199 / 436
August 228 / 262
Sept 382 / 380
October 407 /
Nov. 493 /
Dec. 643 /

Until figures for October November and December and then 1st quarter of 2018 are published which i suspect are peak times for buying SUV / 4 x 4 type vehicle the its hard to draw any conclusions on levante sales.

Doesn't really matter what Alfa do. Loads of people on here would complain even more at the loss of exclusivity than they do already. I was simply pointing that the perception that the stadium was emptying (which I took as a metaphor for customer numbers dropping off) was not really born out by the number of cars being sold <shrug>

Catman's figures are world sales!!

I think

It cant be world sales. Maserati sold over 36k vehicles in 2014 global sales. Catmans figures show 5734 in total for the same year. Forecast for 2016 global sales was 50k vehicles before China sales dropped.
