I'm not a fan of Breitling watches, they always look way too fussy to me. I've recently sold a couple of watches from my small collection and am now left with 3 favourites:

First ever 'nice' watch. Rolex Submariner 50th Anniversary edition

My father has a rather lovely Patek Philippe dress watch that he's never worn. I'm angling for him to pass it to me for safe keeping!

3 lovely watches you have there Mark and yes, like a good Maserati these watches need to be driven/worn so I think you'll be doing your father a good service by taking the PP for safe keeping!

I have a 1972 Breitling chromomatic (the first automatic chronograph) and I know what you mean, they are a little fussy especially with the slide rule bezel but a lovely piece of engineering all the same.

Mate, you definitely do need this to be passed to you. Nearly all Patek's appreciate. Most Patek owners very rarely wear them, which is a shame. Like an exotic sports car, they need to be used.

I absolutely LOVE watches (and shoes) and have splurged considerable sums over the years. Most have been 'flipped' because I decided I didn't want to keep them. Made some bad decisions and lost money but I have a few that have really appreciated. I have a Rolex Submariner (green bezel) which has gone up over 60% in value, a Rolex Daytona which is also now worth over half as much as what I paid for new. But nothing compares to an Omega DeVille I bought second hand. The dealer didn't know what he was selling and so I paid £700 for a watch that now trades for in excess of £7k. My daily watch is an Omega Seamaster (a la James Bond). It's bullet proof. The plan is to pass them onto my lad as an heirloom but the moment this happens, I'm certain he'll sell them on and buy a Maser. Something I should consider doing!

I love your wife's ironic marriage gift, Ross. A watch called Master Control - it's like she's rubbing it in your face!!!

After working my n&ts off for 7 weeks in the shutdown I decided to reward myself with this.
Phil- contigo has one from the brand I believe.
It's a Stowa and the euro exchange rate made it very palatable. image.jpgimage.jpg
