WBAC… what do they look for/check?

As the title asks,,, anyone had experience with them? May move on an older car where I know a couple of bits are not up to scratch….

Do they go over the whole car in minute detail? Do they drive it etc? Just so I know whether to go down this route or not.

Cheers!

It’s weird they go over the full car but don’t test drive it. Check for paint damage, wheel damage, tyre condition, check there is a spare wheel or tyre inflation kit, warning lights and service history. If it’s a bit rough on the bodywork take it when it’s raining

When we sold a car to them they didn't drive it. Knocked some off for curbed alloys etc. Advice to us from friends was to push back on whatever they offer after their inspection, since they have flexibility to raise their offer. Price was fair enough at the end, maybe we could've got £500 more if we'd gone down a different route but on a £9k car we were happy.

I have sold two cars through WBAC
  • start the car looking for warning lights, leave it running
  • visual inspection
  • kick the tyres
SOLD

I sold my 10yr old A-class to our WBAC equivalent, We Buy Cars. The price was good as I’d have to do a bit of paint work and fit 2 new tyres to get full price on AutoTrader. They told me they put all cars on auction immediately and sell as-is. They don’t do anything to the car, it’s purely buy and sell and the volume brings the profit. Not sure how WBAC sell their cars and I presume the UK consumer laws are a bit stronger than those in SA (thanks to the EU ;)).

My Dad sold em a 335d with dodgy 2nd turbo. Never checked. Also sold em a scirocco with *** burn in seat that surprisingly not picked up on, but kerbed alloys and low tyre tread (on all 4) were picked up on / offer knocked down on same car
