No I don't think any of the other poly bush suppliers have looked at the market for us, browsing their web sites.
Having a stainless steel sleeve for a start would be great advantage.
Surprised formula dynamics have not investigated to be honest, maybe they have!

Wow, just worked my ay through the majority of this, starting to have doubts about getting involved with this marque now, so that's Porsche off the list because of engine probs, looks like Maser too, where to look next?

These cars are 10 years old and the vast majority of cars have no issues. Don't be put off.

£400 for a patter wishbone at Euro Spares... hardly enough to put you off the brand given no high end car is without its faults

Anybody successfully fitted any of these yet? The only mentions of them on here so far have been problems fitting them to the rear of 3200's.

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but have the granturismo or quattroportes suffered anything along these lines with the wishbones?

I'm looking to have a change in the summer maybe and while my mechanic suggests (strongly!) I go a different marque after all the drama, I do rather like these so may just go for a model that wants to kill me less.

Not with the wishbones as far as I know. Bushes fail, and there appear to be some other niggles coming up as the ages grow.

Well had to grind the bolts out of one tonight and cut through the arm, boy it's tough! Don't worry about the cracks this one took 2 hours to get off!!!!!

So they are strong then Phil?

Even this one with the fracture took about 3 hours to get off! It would need some force to tear even an arm which has the usual fatigue/cracking on the forge line like this one did! Angle grinder and lots of perseverance was needed but got there in the end. They are not made of chocolate that's for sure but clearly need replacing should a crack appear. I would have thought that catastrophic failure would be very rare even at speed.

Don't know if this is old news but I found this letter which I missed last year because I was away
If course Mrs RSM says I have seen it, clearly I haven't, but I will just admit to missing it - makes life easier

Phil - why did the arm need cutting? Did you chop off the balljoint so it could be separated on the bench?
On my front right I had to chop both the inner retaining bolts, at BOTH ends. Managed to get the hub carrier off only after a huge effort.
I will be fitting the £400 pattern part supplied by eurospares. one day soon.

we have another 3200 to add to the list

guy at work had his 3200 in for a service and was told bottom arms are cracked and need replacing - I've asked him to see if the garage will get a picture to post on here

it would have been better if you had just got the camera a lot closer? use your phone they are great at close ups. :)

Re post #2171
I agree but seeing as i didnt take the picture then that would be a bit difficult. Its also why i said about the higher resolution of the original image its not mine :)

Took the MCV into Autofficina for its annual service and MOT. The dreaded problem has infected my car as well. Probably OK for another year but they have started to go so I have replaced them. They told me that recently 2 other people ignored their advice avout their 4200's and one ended up as a write off in a ditch and a visit to the hospital. My car has done 38,000 and they said its around this mileage that they start to go.

I'll post some pics when I pick her up as they have kept the old parts,

Sorry to hear that but at least you caught it in time before anything happened. Can't understand why someone would ignore advice to change what is in effect a safety component.......just mad, hopefully the hospital trip was not too serious for him/her but just enough to remind of mortality ;)

Going to replace the cracked one I had welded and take the other one out and fully inspect it. At £395 from ES it's just not worth the risk.

I have the welded one fully inspected by the garage that did the work when they MOT the car every year.

Have the prices for wishbones become reasonable or those are pattern parts?

I think that is the price for the pattern part. Unfortunately the pattern one does not fit marci, I have a rear passenger one sitting in the garage I had got but Phil could not fit it without heavy grinding it down to fit brackets, which I was not happy to allow.:(
