From a french customer i recieved a bad working overhauled and converted TB.
There was a warranty label on the TB with the name of the firm who did the job.

I was startled by what i found!

A tiny ONE output hallsensor was glued inside the old sidecap and a simple bridge was made between the second input of the electronic module and the first input, just by a thin yellow wire.
The factory designed redundancysystem (for safety) is completely deleted this way.
To do this at the Throttle/engine side of the system, is plain dangerous.
On top of that, only a very small magnet was glued on the shaft.
This magnet is thát small, that the influence of a moderate external magnetic field, can easily cause unwanted changes in the sensor output, causing a severe safetyproblem.

This construction is very dangerous and programmed to fail!
I really can not understand why a well known firm would take such a risk!

Guys, just be warned, this very moderate priced conversion is NOT SAFE!
If you find a converted TB where no SACER cap is mounted.....watch out!

Surely they are leaving themselves open to legal action if they can be seen to be a factor in any accident?

Makes me slightly nervous as I believe mine has been played with and was thinking of getting it updated.

It is a firm from Germany specialized in automotive electronic repairs.
I do not think it is wise to mention the name of this firm in the open though.

I can understand that.

At least I know it will not be them that I get to look at it and also unlikely that they have touched it!

True - although everything seems fine I had been intending to get it u8pdated at the Maserati Shed.

In the UK, is it not Mike from the Maserati Shed that is the "go to" man for this job? He is very reasonably priced anyway, so why cut corners?

That is my thinking - I believe £400 or there abouts is what he charges.

As initiator/ first producer of the contactless TB, i feel the urge to warn especially those who are NOTin the UK, but read at UK forums.
As original as this German "solution" is, (this time NOT a plain copy of my original design), this sensor is simply not safe for use in an electronic throttle system.

But apart from that, I hope i am being granted to state this:

For those who really want to cut corners;
The birth of the first contactless Maserati unit took place in Holland, at my place, somewhere in 2008 ;)
Since then, hundreds of contactless TB's found theire way all over the globe.
A lot of them went to the UK.
Then the first copies where offered, some bad, some good.

Still lots of units find theire way to the UK, wich is easy to understand; quality and finish are state of the art.
Not just a contactless sensor is built on your OLD unit; a complete rebuilt takes place.
The top aluminium cover comes new, the right sidecap comes new and the complete aluminium body is cleaned and ballpolished to prevent oxidation and improve overall finish.
All of this for the same low price....

So, for those who want to buy at the source; just send a PM.

"Initiator/ first producer"... Realy Luuk! If your memory is failing you have a look at the other forum as to who started this.

At least acknowledge there are other reputable option in the uk that do what you do. As well as mike, I also do the contactless upgrade in the uk and have been doing for over 4 years.

First working contactless Maserati ETM with Sacer sensor was born in Holland.
If you want to argue that, be my guest.
I will rest my case then, beacause that will not serve this forum.
