unwanted attention

what a day to forget.

we were driving back on the A4 tonight and a merc pulls up next to me at the lights and indicate they want to race. I ignore them and carry on at my own (slower) pace. the driver subsequently slows down, rolls his window down and gives me the w@nker sign. showing off to his boyfriends in the car, hope they were impressed. nice chaps.

later on, nearly home at this point, and a police van behind me flashes his lights and pulls me over. great. does the routine document check and asks if I had been drinking. the answer was yes, I had a beer earlier in the evening and a glass of wine with dinner. I get breathalysed but fairly confident I would not fail (though still crapping myself a bit). the look of surprise and disappointment on the rozzers face was priceless when his stupid machine spat out a big fat ZERO. phew!

oh- and to top it off, I may have been caught by a camera earlier this evening (will be a nerve wracking 14 day wait to find out for sure...). hardly fair when my average speed has been 20mph all day mostly stuck in london traffic :(

That sounds like a bad day, why did the cop pull you over, it's unusual for them to just decide you need a pull.

Did the anpr flag something

That is bad luck, at least it was all rolled into one day and not spread out. Fingers crossed for no letter

Flash from the front or the rear. If it was a rear you wont get a ticket, they have to have a visual of the driver these days. The Merc boy will get his comeuppance, the cop can f off.

I did ask the copper was there any particular reason he stopped me and his response was random check...by 'random' I took it to mean 'guy in nice car, let's see what we can do him for'...

Think I posted on here previously my similar episode with HM Constabulary, Breathalyser - passed(had no drink), tyres checked etc etc.

I was in the Passat!!!

yesterday I had a similar experience with a Merc driver on the A19 South
I was doing the legal limit in the inside lane and he pulls along side of me gesticulating about how I should use my rear view mirror more. I did not understand this I had been in the inside lane for a while at the legal limit and in a normal traffic flow.
Anyway he pulled ahead then dropped back alongside of me a couple of times, but I did not bite!
Finally a loud horn went off as a Bentley Continental was fed up of being behind this idiot and he zoomed off............
is it a full moon?

Ironically, I had an Audi (what else) inches from my rear bumper on Thursday on the M20.
The standard rep-mobile poverty spec A4. Probably the lowest base car they do.
Obviously thinking his 15 plate Eurobox was something special, so I pull into the middle lane wait for him to pull alongside.
And then booted it!
Obviously he though his Audi would be a lot quicker than my Alfa GT, but obviously wouldn't have known mine was remapped and de-cated.

His face was a picture as I disappeared away from him. When he caught up in traffic a few miles later he was a far more respectful distance from my bumper!

Lol. Love it mark. Funny enough, I rarely get any bother from young scallywags In their corsas etc, do not think they know what Marci is ;) but occasionally get some middle aged guy in a Euro box right up behind me........and dependent on the mood I'm in at the time they can get the same response, just pull over a lane and kick the turbos on.....hehe

Had a Merc AMG C63 driver recently decide as soon as he saw the Maser behind him that he would give his car full beans.

Totally unprovoked as I was keeping a distance of at least three metres.

Like those guys in the Merc, Always make me laugh seeing wankers feel a need they have to prove something.

Surest sign of insecurity.

Had a similar thing happen on the way back from Oulton on Monday. We were enjoying the run back along the A41 which has some nice flowing turns and straights and we overtook a Citroen of some kind. Eventually as always happens the open road got clogged with a queue of people following a slow vehicle. Overtaking them all in one go would have been risky so i decided to follow along until the dual carriageway further up the road. Then i look in my mirror and see the Citroen on the wrong side of the road re overtaking us and several of the cars in front. Unlucky for him something was coming the other way and he had to force his way into the line to avoid having a nasty accident. Sigh...

Then when we got the the dual carriageway i had a Golf GT tdi which was getting a little too friendly with the back of my car. I stayed in the outside lane as we were overtaking traffic but as soon as the inside lane was clear he pulled in and tried to undertake me. Needless to say that was never going to happen but inevitably at the next roundabout he goes in the wrong lane and cuts across ahead of me.

I have learned from experience that it is best not to rise to the challenge of people like that as most of them seem to be **** bent on "beating" you at all cost, in some cases taking unbelievable risks to get ahead. It's just not worth it.

Are Merc drivers becoming the new Audi drivers?

Yes!
Unfortunately they are, C63s are so cheap now that alot of younger chaps are buying them and renting them out when they realise they can't afford to run it....give a 20 year old a 450hp car...spanner alert. Why im glad I sold mine! Even though it was an estate, trouble makers are usually the coupe/saloon

So agree, it is just not worth the trouble and potential danger. I know I am in a better place than them so let them go

Yep, I never give these wallys the satisfaction of racing, I always drive at the speed I desire and am comfortable with for the time of day or weather conditions, be that fast or slow!
