I put the GY eagle F1 3 in March last year... Wow, what a terrific change ! Silence, comfort, grip, confidence in the wet (to a 3200 GT extent tho... lol ) and also better pricing than other manufacturer for the last UHP Tyre Generation.

Just put a set of rear Pzero Rossos on my 3200GT (as that was what was on it before.) Now doubting my wisdom. I had a lot of trouble getting somewhere to fit them as a) the car wasn't on any of their computer databases, and b) they are Porsche specific fitment (N4). The consensus here seems to be strongly for Goodyears. Probably unsurprising therefore that my Maserati driving experiences to date have led me to favour wet/cold grip.

Just fitted 4 new P Zero Rosso's to the QP. Have had these on all 4 of my QP V's and always been happy, as long as the tread doesn't get too near the limit.

I'm thinking of something new for the MCV as well, but haven't decided what. The tyres currently on it have plenty of tread but are getting old. It'll only be driven in good weather, so wet/winter performance is of no relevance to me on this particular car. Just need to work out what's the best dry weather tyre for a GS.

Money no object it would have to be Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, or slightly cheaper Yokohama AD08R Advan Neova.
It would have to be the Michelin's for Michelin were tyre suppliers to Maserati when the car was new.

I've got P Zeros on the Maser and as mentioned good in the dry rubbish in the wet.
I've Assimetric 2's on the front of the Merc which are great, but have 3's on the back which I don't think are as good.
Particularly in the wet.
On my Alfa GT I had, I put PS3's on and the car had awesome grip, both wet and dry.

When my Maser needs new tyres, I'll definitely be putting PS3's on.

Mine did it on P Zeros to the point where I thought my geo must have been out. I changed to Conti SP6 and it was transformed. And in the cold, damp weather they were lethal, despite them having 5mm of tread at the time.
You'll notice the difference when it's time to change I'm sure.

Yup, this.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 or Supersport if you can get them.

I think they are excellent performance wise, and also wear well, something I find with all Michelin tyres.

+1 for the supersport. Take a good kicking on the track with no issues although the ride is firmer than with Goodyears i believe.

As most of us only do low summer mileages isn't it better to have bags of grip in the dry on tires that wear quickly than have something that last for years and then go's over date..

Dave
Up here in Bonnie Scotland it can rain any time of year, so I need something with good wet grip

Thanks all for replying - well recommended are Goodyear ***. 2, so that's what I'll go for. If I can't get those at a reasonable price it will be Conti SP6 or Michelin PS3's

Mike

PS We have Vredestein winter tyres on our 4 x 4 and they are brilliant on it but their sports tyres only get one 'possible alternative' mention

May I also ask if Pirelli is still the one for Summer days if I'm low on mileage? I have Pirelli's but never really pushed at corners. And can't compare them with other tires as they are my first.

One thing I know that even if one of the rears are a little less inflated, strong pull immediately shows the issue.

Try Black Cicles or Camskills for the GoodYear F1 A2s.

So what are we thinking for a Quattroporte in the UK winter? MICHELIN Pilot Alpin, maybe?

You buy what you can get, preferably in matched front/rear end. For example on the GranTurismo with 20" wheels, Pirelli Sotto Zero II is the only matching tyre available.

Another +1 for the supersports, transformed the handling of my GS. Amazing in the dry, decent in the wet.
