Trip to France

We have just returned from a trip to France in the 3200.
Popped over on the Poole-Cherbourg ferry and stayed for a few nights at Maverick's gite near La Rochelle.
The car performed without fault - what a great drive there and back - with just over 1000 miles covered.
Nice quiet stay at Mav's gite - very relaxing!
Thought I'd share a few photos with everyone:

Popped into the LeMans circuit entrance on the way back:

Now all set for the LeMans trip!

The in-laws live just outside of La Rochelle, my sister-in law Bordeaux, and brother-in law Toulouse.
This summer hols half the time visiting said family, the other half staying in Biarritz to recover!

Every time we go I dream of taking the Maser, but end of taking the Beemer with the roof box instead. Boo hoo.

How are you finding the 3200 compared to the 4200?

Hi Mike - tricky question to answer - so let me just say - both are very enjoyable and with their own plus points!
cheers Dave

unlikely to be this year but eurostar with a few stops on the way looks appealing

Tell them you have a trailer, and you get into the wider carrriages. Not that the narrow ones are a huge issue, but the wider ones are, well, wider!

Just book as an overheight car, as there's no cost penalty. The carriages are much wider - the standard carriages have two major problems for wide cars: the kerbs are quite close together, so it's very easy to damage an alloy or two, and the toilets/stairs stick out so much that smacking a wing mirror is also just too easy. On the odd occasion they challenge it, the magic word 'claustrophia' will soon have you speeding into the high load lanes. The operators are used to seeing low slung wide fast cars in the high carriages though, so don't tend to even mention it. I've never been challenged taking a Maser through.

Well done Moz. Isn't the circuit a strang place when it's not the 24hrs. Like a ghost town.

I do just the same...only down side I have found is the toilet at the end of the wide carrige gets rather smelly if you have a few coaches with you...and if they are also carrying school parties they do get to be a pain with Maserati selfiies.

I just went to the Monaco Historic GP in the 3200. It fits in the Eurostar no problems, and the upstairs carriage is also ok with no grounding on exit. Car performed perfectly and did 22mpg!
BTW I highly recommend the Historic GP - it's held every other year, a fortnight before the F1 GP and the ticket prices for grandstands are less than 10% of the cost. You can also wander round the cars in the paddock for free on the Friday morning and the whole atmosphere is really friendly. If you enjoy older racing cars it's brilliant.
