Lovely. Was on my watch list! But the timing isn't quite right yet.

One thing puzzles me. You drove it out of Sport mode? Surely you turn the ignition key and put it straight into Sport?
That's what everyone else does! Don't they?
There's a mode that isn't Sport MC-Shift?!

I wanted to see what mpg I could get on cruise control on the M1. Wet conditions and Pzero tyres so I took it steady.

26mpg - I don’t think I’ll top that.

Don't think I ever topped 16mpg! :p

Congrats. Beautiful example. Tennis ball or similar on a piece of string as mentioned above has been my method for exact garage positioning for the last 25 years and has never let me down!

@jonny was Rosso Trionfale an £8k option when new?
I don't think so actually. I am looking at an official Maserati Price List book that I have, and "metallic paint" was a £564 option and "special paint" was £1,800. I assume that your rosso trionfale is the same as mine which is definitely metallic. The really crazy option was matt finish paint for which they charged £15,000. Whatever the price, it looks stunning!

Congrats on lovely purchase and great colour and spec. If in Derby then a trip to Buxton on the A515 is lovely (50mph limit, cough cough) or if you like noise, best is up Winnats pass scares the bejesus out of the sheep and hikers!

Yep - that’s one of my favourite roads around here.
I’m not quite used to the width or grip limit of the car yet, but I could fly up there in my 997.

are you local?

So - over the last few days I’ve been giving the car a deep clean, nearly finished.

started with snowfoam, rinse, shampoo, rinse.
Then iron fallout remover, agitate, rinse.
Tar removal on lower panels.
Clay bar everything.
Snowfoam, rinse, shampoo, rinse, de-ionised water rinse, dry
DA Machine polish (single stage with Meguiars ultimate compound - although I missed a few bits as I didn’t put the 3” head on the machine) - the curves are quite tricky.
Snowfoam, rinse, shampoo, rinse, snowfoam again (polishing compound is so oily), shampoo, rinse, deionised water rinse, dry.

Now it’s finally ready for protection- I think I’m going to go for Autoglym High Definition Wax for a warm finish.
Next time I’ll probably put Gtechniq on for durability and a glassy finish.

Typically the forecast is rain for the next couple of days, and I’m showing it to my mates at a car meet on Weds.

I’m still very much a novice with the DA, so fairly sure there will still be some swirls present. - the flake in the paint is much more apparent now though.

not got an ‘after’ pic as it started to rain so quickly popped the car back in the garage.

You might be a novice on the DA but you sure like soap suds! 8 snowfoam/shampoos! That's impressive!
Eb

No point in dragging contaminants around the paint with the machine polisher

 i think I might have missed one out between tar removal and clay bar as well!

I’m knackered, and really don’t fancy a wax-on wax-off shoulder workout today….

No Manchester. But all my wife’s family are weeping Rams. As her mum is in a home we visit often. Over 35 years we have worn a groove between Manchester and Derby.
