Torque Wrench

For far too long, I have borrowed other people's so it's about time I became an adult and bought one myself.

I'm not a big mechanic but think I should have one in my set so can anyone please recommend a half a decent one for me to buy for occasional use?

And also, does anyone know the torque correct setting for GTS wheel bolts as I cannot find this information?

Many thanks all

Well, a QP is 98Nm, and since the hubs are the same, I'd imagine the torque setting will be the same for a GT.

Just found it, yes, 98Nm - the same.

Think my torque wrench is a Draper - seems to work just fine.

For occasional use, pretty much anything will be fine. You probably know already, but it's important to store them with the adjustment backed off to help prevent them going out of calibration. My weapons of choice at home are Britool (1/2" drive) and Snap on (3/8" and 1/4" drive). For the 1/2" drive, I prefer non ratcheting so there's no chance of a ratchet slipping when tightening to higher torque settings. A good breaker bar is a good investment too if you're buying tools. I'm not sure if the Halford pro range have a torque wrench, but their socket sets seem to last quite well, having used a set to just "throw in the van" rather than take a load of expensive Snap On tools.

I have a Britool 1/2" drive, and a smaller 3/8" one, also Britool. Had them for years. I always buy the best I can afford when buying tools. Even if they only get used every few years.

The Halfords one seems good - solid, feels high quality

The Pro range also has a lifetime warranty. I've had to return a couple of ratchets (!/4") that I broke whilst using them as a breaker bar in frustration. This didn't bother Halfords who replaced them over the counter with no quibble.

Is this the first positive feedback ever for Halfrauds!

I use a German Hazet for 1/2" sockets with a range of 20 to 100 or 120NM (Good quality and price)
For 1/4" sockets I use a cheaper Proxxon that goes from 5 to 30NM but this one is a bit too big
