Thoughts on this car please

This is my first post on this section of the forum. Was looking at buying a 4200 coupe a couple of years ago but bottled out and bought a BMW 650 which is a great car but that Maserati itch has returned. A 4 door car would suit my needs much better, so the research has started.
Basically my questions are:
Has anybody any knowledge of this car
Has anybody any knowledge of the dealer
I think it’s about 2 grand over priced would I be right?

I’ve read a lot of posts about cam variators and sub frames being the biggest things to look out for on these cars but would need to have a ppi done. As the car is in Edinburgh it looks like PK performance cars is the nearest specialist has anyone had any dealings with them.

Any input would be great.

Thanks in advance
Simon

Well it looks lovely. Others will be along with assistance but from recent thread here you'd be wise to get a full inspection including the subframe.
It would seem fsh is not gtee its not rotting away.
Good luck.

PK Supercars are great, but I think they've semi-retired and moved into storage only. Still worth contacting them incase they'll do a PPI.

It looks very much like my old car but with a different interior. I loved it and the colour really works well on the QP. But as Wattie has already mentioned, a full inspection is essential for things like sub-frame rust and clutch wear. Good luck and I hope it turns out to be a good buy.

Been for sale a while as all,QP's are....but for me it's the nicest combination for sale at the moment on a Sport GT.....Love it and if I was in the market I would get it checked out and inspected. This colour is the flesh is lovely and in the sunshine really does stand out from the blacks and greys you usually get. Love it.

I like this colour too, really suits the QP. Buyers market at the moment they just don't sell easily, inspection especially subframes and clutch is well worth the upfront cost

Another lovely looking QP with a nice spec, and if a ppi checks out ok it would be on my shopping list.

Good luck with the hunt.

I viewed this car before buying mine which incidentally is now for sale. (See forum cars for sale section) It’s been on the market for ages. The NSR door was damaged and when I went to see it the battery was flat. They jump started it. The abs light and traction control light was on. The history was locked in the glove box which would not open so didn’t get to see it but the engine started fine. No rattles starting from cold etc..I didn’t to drive it. They were too busy!! I also read all the dealer reviews when I got home and it doesn’t make for good reading but I’m not saying the car isn’t good. It’s a lovely colour. Definitely get it checked out. I’m not sure PK are on the go anymore but David Philips in Edinburgh gets a good name for a PPI. He’s a Ferrari specialist but he is doing more and more Maseratis now PK have closed.

Isn't it an auto? If so, I suspect the clutch will be fine :p. However it is then the corrosion below and variators that need looking into and ensure it has had a suspension rebuild recently as it is at a mileage where the orginals are likely to be tired. Sounds like a good PPI option locally or the one for sale on the forum of course. All QPVs are gorgeous and so much more fun to own than the BMW but buy a good one or it will be expensive.

Great? That would. Depend who you ask........

Well that's the case for any opinion, isn't it...

They were great in my experience when I used MP Supercars and then PK Supercars after Martin left - however, to clarify I haven't needed to use them for the past 9 years (as I moved from Maserati to Aston) - so maybe things have declined since.

I also know David Philips as someone has already suggested on here, who is definitely still in full operation (Covid-19 notwithstanding), so that's probably an easier call for PPI anyway.

Buy @Kincath car, it's for sale in the cars for sale section and is a facelift, mint car with fully restored underside. It was at Autoshield a couple of months ago and so I'd expect that a call to Marios will tell you about the car. Plus Kincath can send you full photos of the restoration.

Thanks guys for the guidance and information. Kincath how bad was the damage on the door when you saw it? That concerns me more than subframes and variators tbh at least you know what your in for with those but body repairs can be so complex. Coupled with the fact that they were too busy to help puts me off as well. I did scan the autotrader reviews which looked ok were did you see the reviews Kincath? Which is your one that you have for sale? I really do like the red though. On the sub frame issue is it a case of being able to crawl under the car and give it a look or is it a case of needing to be on a lift with under trays removed etc.

Given the cost of subframe and variaitors (poss up to £6k+ to rectify) I would be more worried about those than bad paint on a door.

I recall a newbe buying a similar car a few months ago and returning it just weeks later with variator issues. Same car?!?

That was Stevepen and 58 plate. It went back but not sure if it was permanent or repair.

Yes, mine. Still in for repair but workshop shut now. I’ll update when it reopens.

Yes lovely colour and car
Yes overpriced imho by £3000 at least. It is a buyers market. There is a reason it has been for sale a while. It is too dear - brutal market
