I see Richard Porter is not so impressed with the current offerings from our favoured brand...and the face lift QP does not fair that well in the tested sections.

Though to be fair, I'm not so impressed with Richard Porter. I subscribe to EVO, and every month I end up liking him just a little bit less. (haven't read the latest issue yet, but have already decided to give his missive a miss)

Who needs Evo when Modern Classics features a previous generation Maserati in pretty much every issue?

But, to be fair, there are some on here - myself included - who aren't happy with current line up and lack of new sports car/GT.

I've stopped my subscription, it's cheaper to just subscribe to a Porsche magazine!!!!!!!!

They've not been impressed with the turbo'd boxster so I don't agree that they're total Porsche fanboys. They favour great drivers cars, whoever makes them. Gave the new Giulia 5 stars..

Thats good to hear.

They give a lot of things 4/4.5/5 star

Its when they have their car of the year or big shootouts Porsche wins.

Everyone is kicking the new Porsche 4 pot. And then Autocar find out it is no more economic than an F type V6. Noise is an important point in the ownership proposition for special cars as Jaguar understands.

Read the review of the QP GTS and although we don't like Maserati's being criticised I think it is probably a reflection of where Maserati are with the current car....It is no longer the sporting drive the old car was and now a limousine....

Faster than the old car, bigger, more room inside....but not necessarily a better car.

Maserati have moved away from what made the 03 to 2012 QP distinctive and great car.....It had charm which clearly the new car has lost .......When I was driving Drews QP around Brunty yesterday I could help but think the new QP would go around this bend as well as Drew's car also that would probably mean my smile wouldn't have been from ear to ear as it was yesterday.

Unfortunately I'm inclined to agree mostly with Porter.

I don't always agree with his comments though. It was actually a good magazine this month, have worried it was downhill a bit over the past few years.

I was drooling over the Guilia, M3' Rcf etc test.

I'm trying to line up the giulia or c63 for my next car :)

Me to...for the Alfa to come out over the M car is a first ...... It's a good read and Alfa seem to have got it right.

Stop talking the Giulia up it will mess up my plans if the depreciation doesn't fall inline with other Alfa saloons

This month's Car has a group test of QF, M4 and C63 as well. C63 wins but mostly because of the noise - Alfa a close 2nd.

They struggled to pick between the Alfa and The C63........It was so close.......I loved the old C63 but not a fan of it's new looks at the back.........

Has an Alfa performance car ever had a better review than a BMW M car....?......Probably not.....It sounds a cracking car.

To be honest it's nice to see the M3 not winning, in the past all group (Autocar, Evo, car etc) tests ended with "but it's not quite as sharp as the M3" etc.

I like the AMG products more because of their hairy chested power delivery and everyday character.

My father has the old shape C63 Peft Package plus estate and it's still a great car lovely steering and the engine is just so savage in character. He likes it so much he has kept it alongside his newer RS6, which is quicker but doesn't have half the character.

It's definitely Alfa or AMG for me, followed by the leftfeld Lexus (well maybe)

One thing is for sure, you will look less of a tosser in the Alfa, which has got to be worth something!

Richard Porter's piece was well balanced and insightful.Ghibli sales falling off the proverbial cliff and a tired sports range, means the need for a massive success with the Levante is paramount in order to have any chance to launch of the Alfieri. The lack of strategy is worrying;illustrated by the hopeless chase for volume by building bloated characterless saloons which only dilute the values of the marque.

It is worrying, certainly. As much as I like the idea of buying a new Maser and being in a position to even do so, I don't think I'd go for the current Ghibli or QP. Given the chance I'd be more inclined to spend my hard earned on the best QPV I could find and maintain and keep it for as long as possible.
