Thinking about this GT

He has said he will replace all the tyres with a decent brand but they'd be part-worn at 5-6mm. He also said he'll get the service sorted. I'm just asking what garage he's intending to use, hopefully not Fred in a Shed.

Interesting. Personally I'd rather get my own new tyres and possibly arrange my own service. Of course it's cheaper for him his way

Erk....his response was "I have an in house mechanic that ex specialist tech that does all the servicing. He very through and does all of my sports and prestige vehicles"

I can't say I'm massively inspired by that.

Yeah, so it'll be fluids and filters. Maybe not the one for you

I've just told him I need the car to have a service history full of stamps from well known and respected specialist garages. I think I've seen enough yellow alerts to make it a red one. Gonna leave it.

What do you think, guys? Leave it or go for it?

I'd probably leave it, but you seem to be quite keen on that one.

Go have a look, if you want. At the end of the day there's nothing that's not fixable there in terms of decent tyres and getting the service stamped.

I think on a GT I'd want it to be done at a specialist for sure as they know the cars like the back of their hands and have all the correct diagnostic equipment which is a must on these cars. I think he should realise that really but clearly he wants to spend as little as possible on the car. I think you need to go back to him and ask him what the best price is he can do without changing the tyres and doing the service.

Even if he does do the service, nothing to stop you getting it serviced again 'properly'. Ditto the part worns. All boils down to what one wants to pay.

Agree totally with Phil. To be honest it's not that much cheaper than some GTS's with
A FSH. It has to be serviced at the specialist and ask
Them to give you a run down of the condition of the car.
A couple of things missed and you are looking at a several k bill

IME whoever does the service won't tell you much about the condition of cars they've serviced. Of course my experience isn't *that* huge. Better to get a PPI.

Plenty of cars that are advertised with FSH don't actually have one either.

It looks like a nice car and could either be an opportunity or disaster.

I would go and see the car. Take a torch, spend at least an hour, look at the areas that are hard to mask off and paint, like bottoms of doors, front inner wings (inside the bonnet) around the window rubbers, inside the boot. Make sure you have perfect daylight. Take pictures. If the body looks legit, then study the mechanics, start it up, cold hopefully, and drive it. Does it make funny sounds or pull? what about under braking? Gearchanges sound smooth? How does the oil look? Black and stinky? Wet drips under engine or box? (look where its been parked).

In my experience (or maybe because of it?) by this time a car either will or will not feel like being worth making an offer on. If it feels right, make a conditional offer pending a full inspection. Make the offer as low as the market justifies (do your research beforehand). If they accept that offer, and something shows up, you can legitimately show the costs of the pending items and reduce your offer price accordingly.

Sorry of all the above is obvious! Just sharing how I do this. Good luck!

Bad dealer doesn't mean bad car , the service and tyres are negotiable , if you're more comfortable getting it done at a specialist it comes off the price or you walk.

The used tyres are just him not wanting to put £1000 into it if the tyres on it are legal

If it checks out on a PPI I'd want £1000 off for the above

Omg. Sounds like a dodgy dealer. Why on earth would he fit part worn tyres on a car like this??? When I was looking for my GTS I paid for Shiltech Ppi and only looked at cars with verified dealer or specialist garages. I would doubt that the garage that did the last service actually has the necessary diagnostic equipment to check out if car has any hidden faults that need rectifying

That's a good point if you get it for
The right price.
I never trust these non specialist dealers. They buy cheap and sell cheapish.
It's luck whether the car is decent or not
