Never easy Newton...perhaps we should have had a plan B in advance!!!

P

All par for the course Frank ,with any car project , ingenuity/contingency is the answer when things dont quite go as easy as they should , key is to allways have ready an alternative

Its a learning curve Frank thats all

Frank have you already priced up the parts that you definately know that you need, and set aside a bodywork.engine refurb assessment , then do the maths and see if it all stacks up , excessive contingency amounts can soon push the project into unviability

Well Loz...I have a good idea....but until I have an idea of what the body work spend might be.....I am not too sure of overall cost....its a 2/3/4 yrs project, part funded by Alfa sale......so will know a good bit more in late sept......dive in or sell as parts...engine worth more than what I spent on it so far alone

Sad but remains an option then Frank; Document the strip down and it helps to validate the bits if you do decide to part it out...

Finally, we begin the strip down, deep cleansing and no doubt much poking and prodding.

This evening will see us spending a few hours to start things off, then hoping to get a timetable going to last us over the next number of months before we take it for some/lots of bodywork, will up-date the forum as I go along.

Bodywork wise Frank it is about where my MGB-GT got to, I bought it back in 89 to work on in my evening classes for vehicle restoration... Realised after a few years I'm not a bodywork person, more for the detailling and the rest is histrory as they say!

Some long nights ahead but enough there to work with I'd say...

Frank, the best tool you want to see in the workshop is one of these http://www.justinbaker.co.uk/ but more importantly is someone who has mastery of it!!! This aspect of bodywork I loved doing but found the welding too fiddly on such thin sheet, I much prefer sticking big bits of metal together! I got pretty good at lead loading though, a lost art in many ways as plastic fillers are now far superior...

I won't be using any tools Newton.......leave it up to the guys with 10/20/30 experience in doing it properly!
