I feel for you Ross, houses can be a pain to have major works done on, been there, done that and looking to do it all again in a couple of years!

Thanks Newton. It really does have its moments. It has been a year since we bought and we won't be in till the end of the year at the earliest. It is a long time to not live in your own house, especially when you are recently married.

There have been many times when I have thought why on earth did we sell my 2 bed flat that was more than big enough for two people.

This house has been a stressful experience, one of the most stressful things I have ever done. A project manager who proved untrustworthy, a building company about to start work that broke up 3 weeks before our wedding. At times we were just going to strip the house and sell it as is. Having to find new builders 3 weeks before the wedding, at the same time as interviewing for new jobs and negotiating a new job and of course all the headache that comes with organising a wedding was at times too much. I think we did the three of the most stressful "standard" life events you can do all at once - renovation, new job and wedding!

This house owes me a fair amount of hair on my head!

Cant go wrong with bricks and water......

You can mate, rely on that and the house will fall down. You need to use that water to make mortar. :)

One day Ross, I'll tell you a story over several pints that will knock that into a cocked hat but believe me when I say I know just what you mean; at times it is still painful but you will get past it and the marriage in particular will be stronger for it.

I still have a reasonable amount of hair on my head and more than all my brothers together so I cannot complain about that!

Considerably worse than that might well have knocked me into an early grave...so well done! Yes, happy to share a pint in the near future. However, I will refrain from discussing this house malarkey till it is actually done and we are living in it!

What a frustrating day... Report writing took longer than planned and ended up getting out at 14:00 about 3 hours later than planned, got to my first site only to find the van dragging its ar$e with a flat tyre, not totally but enough to have wrecked the side walls in the few miles from home! swapped for spare but the tyre is not recoverable; just as well I picked up 6 at the auction a few weeks back :)

I then had to re-route to drop off the reports before the customer went home for the day then backtrack to get to all the sites, meaning I was then in commuter traffic and chasing the sunset, the last site was too dark to photo so that will be a fudged report! As they are monthly ones I had to get them inspected today.

Driving all round Kent tomorrow so I hope I don't get another puncture as I've no chance of getting the other one replaced, may just take one with me just in case.

Can't say I know Klang Valley but Malaysia's a great place to visit - kinda like Asia Lite. Great food and a whole mish mash of cultures. We've got extended family out there which helps in getting organised, but in 2.5 action-packed weeks we 'did' Kuala Lumpur, tea plantations in the Cameron Highlands, two v different beachy areas in Penang on the Indian Ocean side and then Sabah in Borneo, and communed with hairy ginger apes.

This will be pretty much work and more work overseeing the first installation for a new reseller for my clients.
