Morning all, early start with a run up to Rutland in the Alfa to do a small install; been waiting for the delivery ages now...

05.30 start, loaded car and collected assistant for the day and got to a private (special needs) school on the A606 for 09.00 to need a pre 10.00 delivery. Well that was the plan; it finally arrived at 14.15!!! So not long home and knackered now...

Sorry to hear that mate - I cycled on the 606 today, between Empingham and Langham, round the top of Rutland Water.

The school is about a mile before Empingham though you wouldn't know it was there.

Finally home and what a traumatic experience it was. I've come to the conclusion that if you drive with consideration in large parts of Europe it's like being in a cage fight with starving Wolves. Despite the grief, I got from ferry (Canakkale) to ferry (Dunkirk) in 34 hours. It's 1780 miles across all kinds of roads and terrain. Take out 8 hours sleep and and hour for toll booth stops, fuel stops and a complete customs check leaving Serbia, it works out at just over 70mph. The old smoker ran absolutely superbly; comfortable, quiet and oh so reliable, she now has 233k. She even came back with an overall average of 49.2mpg over 4482 miles. It's not a journey a would repeat any time soon but I ticked a couple of bucket list boxes; an across Europe road-trip and doing 1000 miles + (1085) in a calendar day. Now off to bed, I'm bolloxed.

It is, and what a cracking little donk it is. I checked the oil before I set off back and she hadn't used a drop. Whilst down there I did nearly 300 miles around the peninsular, a lot of it on roads only fit for LandRovers and there wasn't a sniff of anything breaking. She looks a little dirty and 'war-weary' at the moment but she'll scrub up again. I think I'll run her until she explodes, so it looks like I'll have her for a while yet!
