You still refer to media discussions.

The financial trouble that greece is involved in has to do with the society and with the mentality of the greeks. It's not about numbers. It's about the behaviour. Greeks always want to live like kings and work part time jobs. This has brought corruption to every face of the society: From the politician, to the enterpreneur and from the worker to the unemployed. Greeks want to be the masters with doing nothing. If you read history, you will find out that this scenario has been playing for 100s of years, as well as germans beeing conquerors has been played for 100s of years as well (WW2, and now with the leading of Europe).
Drachma is not the solution. Cause if in drachma, the loans to the EU/EFT will never get paid. Now tell me, do the Germans want this to happen?...
The problem lies deep inside the society and the education we have had. I grew up in a german school and have personal experience not only relying on the media, on what is going on. I see the difference of my education to the 'usual' greek. I cannot cope with that, as long as my classmates who had similarly grown up.
In greece we say 'look at what causes the problem, not the effects of it". this would be the solution.

There's no question that part of the reason for the Greek mess is the culture, but that doesn't explain why similar DEBT problems exist in many other European countries......they're not Greek!

And I'm sorry but it is about the numbers because thats what's owed!!! I've no doubt that Germany would prefer to kick Greece out ( it falsified data to get in!) but the fact is that Germany manipulated the bailout of its banks via Greece and now thats coming home to roost.

The problem is you cannot have all of these different countries using one currency. Naturally, it suits some and not others. It simply doesn't work and thats whats being proved by the increasing Debt, Deflation, Massive Unemployment and recession.

Think we'll have to agree to disagree.

Our conversation started with greece and about greece i am responsible to talk, because i live there. If we talk about money there is no 'it suits me' as mentioned before. It's numbers that have to be followed. But when failing in doing that, you search for the reasons, not just 'go to drachma'. That ain't the solution.
If you say that greece gave wrong data to enter the EU(surely told because it's been told by your media), then please take the time to discover what data was given by other countries, like Bulgaria. Then get back to me with what you found out.

Morning all, WFH today with most of the time going to be spent in conference calls listening to people justify hundreds of guesses. I'm fine with guessing, but not so keen on them being presented as facts!

I think this sums up the situation in Greece and also confirm what Nikos said about the culture.

http://www.express.co.uk/comment/ex...k-on-kicked-out-eurozone-good-for-Greece-euro

"What Syriza forgets is that other European countries have voters, too, and they are already angry at the quantity of their money which has already been shovelled in the direction of Athens.

As one German voter put it when that country’s government was proposing to raise the retirement age while Greece’s civil servants were bleating at the prospect of having to work for longer under the bailout terms, why should Germans work until 67 so that Greeks can still retire at 62?

True, many of Greece’s problems predate the euro.

For decades Greece has been living beyond its means.

Tax evasion became a national pastime, with authorities failing to collect what theoretically they should have been receiving.

Other eurozone countries are guilty of allowing Greece into the euro when it should have been obvious that the country’s poor record of fiscal discipline made it an unsuitable member.

Such was the hubris with which the euro was established that they blinded themselves to Greece’s shortcomings."

I've no interest in finding out what other countries falsified data, they're probably all at it- Bulgaria hasn't been bailed out 240 billion plus tho!

Take your pick from here

If you have no interest, then do not enter into a conversation. Just keep dreaming on what the media say.
Last answer from my side this, i will not keep on following this crazyness.

Like I said, we'll agree to disagree.

Oh, re falsification of data, yesterday GB patted itself on the back for great GDP numbers.......very few realise this is now included to make things appear better.ASTONISHING!!

It's a EURO directive.

Morning all - 3.9 earthquake last night here, with the epicentre just 10 miles away. Felt like a truck had hit the house...
