The only thing that turns it into an 'abomination' are the rear lights. The rest is 4200/GS (and the FD wheels).

No mate, not in any way. I certainly would've regretted not doing it having had the perfect opportunity. This one is, and always was, a keeper.

Hmm, my Tag has just suffered a nasty impact with the tile floor which means it now needs to go back to Tag. Which is a PITA as I'm off to KL next week and was rather hoping to be wearing it.

One of the local pawn shops has something of interest, however....

Before getting your pants pulled down sending back to TAG, I can highly recommend Brian:

http://www.time-repairs.com/

He has serviced my TAG, and fully rebuilt my vintage 'James Bond' Seiko Chronograph from the 80's, which, I honestly believe no one else would have the skills or be capable of doing with so many obsolete parts.
A true old school watchsmith, won't go anywhere else even if just for a simple battery replacement.

That's about par. Breitling charge £475 for a full refurb (but the watch does come back like new IME)

Looking forward to seeing this guy's work as he's quite a lot cheaper and my old Breitling could do with a service :D

He'll do whatever you want.
Just a battery, no problem.
Battery and full pressure test, no problem.
Full strip and polish etc with new parts, bezel, no problem.
It's quite nice he is only 30 minutes from me and he doesn't mind me calling in. He has a secure unit in an old mill complex so none of the businesses are 'shop front' type businesses you have to pre-arrange your visit if calling.

Agreed - getting the original manufacturer to service high end watches is expensive (Rolex are charging me £650+ to service my old Daytona...)

I think it's a bit like using a main dealer for cars - sometimes worth it, can help preserve value in some circumstances, but often the same or better service can be found for less.

Has he got a magic tag wand

I walked into a local auction just as a tag F1 came up for sale , bidding was at £25 and I thought, a tag for £30 so I bid and to my surprise nobody outbid me

When I went to collect it they'd obviously seen it :D

Yep. I was considering sending my Aerospace back this year as it's been about 7 years since it had a refurb and is looking a little tired. Might well send the new one off first, but it hardly seems worth it now I've seen it close up so we'll see what he does with the Tag and go from there.

It can be beneficial to have 'MD' servicing agreed, but with most of mine I get them cheap enough that I can sell them for the same all day long as long as they are genuine and show some kind of service. It's far less critical for quartz watches as well these days IMHO now even Timpson will pressure test and certify up to 10 ATM

That will need some work but if it runs it's got to be worth a punt.

Alternatively PM me and £30 will be in your bank by return....

Will you want the watch or are you feeling sorry for me :D

It actually cost me £36 with the 20% buyers premuim, I should have started an auction business, they charge £3 lotting fee, 18% sellers commission and 20% buyers premium

the seller would have got about £18-£20 for it but having looked at that price list it's probably worth sending it off for an estimate , the hands turn with the crown but I bet it's got a corroded battery in it
